WALKERTON â€”Â Phyllis A. Zehner, 70, of Walkerton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 8:08 a.m., at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.Â
Phyllis was born July 5, 1942, in Plymouth, to Elmer and LaVerne (Holmquist) Holm. She married Jerry ZehnerÂ on Sept. 2, 1961. Phyllis worked for the United States Postal Service, out of the Walkerton Post Office, as a rural mail carrier, for 27 years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #865 of Tyner. She had lived, in Marshall County, all her life.

BREMEN â€”Â Trena Lakins, 52, of Bremen, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Bremen; three daughters, Jennifer Lakins of Arizona, Kelsey (George) Phillips of Etna Green, and Kortney Lakins of South Bend; her parents, Michael and Janet Levy of Bremen; three sisters, Lenae (Brad) Robinson of Noblesville, Annette (Dave) Walter of Bremen, and Karyn (Les) McFarland of Bourbon.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
PLYMOUTH â€” Just a few weeks remain until the Plymouth Park Departmentâ€™s highly-anticipated event â€” the Daddy Daughter Dance.
Recreation coordinator Scott Michel said that there are still spaces open for the Feb. 15 affair.
â€śYou have to sign up at the Park Office and the cost is $10 for each couple, and then $2 for each additional guest,â€ť noted Michel. â€śSo if you have two daughters it will be $12.â€ť
Last year, about 150 dads and daughters packed into the Webster Center and danced the night away.

A - My Mom and Dad are Steve and Julie Harrell and Iâ€™ve got my sister Ashley and my little brother Drew...
Q - Is there anything athletically you donâ€™t do?
A - Iâ€™m pretty awful at golf? I donâ€™t know if that counts?
Q - You play a lot of golf?
A - I played once. Shot a 72 on nine holes. You know...
Q- So you arenâ€™t thinking of taking up golf then? As your next challenge?
A - I guess it could be. Not my favorite but...
Lafferty sets 2 records as Lady Lions beat Marian
Katie Lafferty set two new pool records in the 50 and 100 freestyles, and the Lady Lions handed visiting Marian a 133-48 defeat in their home pool in Bremen Monday.
Lafferty clocked a 24.87 in the 50 and a 54.1 in the 100 on her way to four wins for the evening as she also swam anchor on her teamâ€™s winning 200 medley and 400 free relay squads.
LIGONIER â€” With a long layover since their last meet and a change of equipment at West Noble, Plymouthâ€™s gymnastics team had to shake off a little rust Monday.
The Lady Pilgrims performed well enough to get the road win, defeating the Chargers, 95.9-81.275. The team had last competed nine days prior when they defeated Lowell in their first dual meet of the year.
A host of area football players received Academic All-State nominations as the Indiana Football Coaches Association released its annual list recently.
Plymouthâ€™s Adam Lacefiled and Christian Wiers both made the list, while Culver Community also saw a pair of players named in Allen Betts and Micah Budzinski.
Culver Military received four Academic All-State distinctions in Beau Eckstein, Eric Maudhuit, Frank Slykas and Caleb Jadrich, and Tritonâ€™s D.J. Riffle also made the team.
Ronald L. Holloway

PLYMOUTH â€” Ronald L. Holloway, a Plymouth resident since 1963, passed away at his home Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11:25 a.m. following an illness. At the age of 87, until his health would not allow, he continued to have a daily presence as the owner and operator along with his two sons of Holloway Electric Motor Services in Rochester. He maintained the attitude of â€śnot going to retireâ€ť after 52 years of continued service to the area of rebuilding electric motors.
