KNOX â Todd Russell Hovarter, 49, of Knox, formerly of LaPaz, passed away at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 in Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1963 in South Bend to LaVern and Elzie (McIntosh) Hovarter. On Dec. 29, 2004 in Knox, he married the former Pamela S. Stidham.

Betty P. Freese

PLYMOUTH â Betty P. Freese, age 82, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, passed away at 1 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer in the loving care of her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
Betty was born Jan. 7, 1930 in LaPaz, to Darrell Muffley and Edith P. Maxson. She attended LaPaz High School.
Betty worked in the optical field for more than 30 years and organized a union at American Optical in the early â70s. She retired from the profession in 1991.

ARGOS â Kenneth Pritchett, age 55, of Argos, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Plymouth.
Kenneth was born April 27, 1957, to Sherman Ray and Lula Pritchett, in Plymouth. He graduated from Plymouth High School in the Class of 1975. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Barbara Salyer and Kenneth were married Oct. 6, 1984, at Centennial Park, in Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH â Ruth H. Zartman, 90, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 4:40 a.m. Jan. 1, 2013 at Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth.
Ruth was born Aug. 29, 1922, the precious daughter of Guy and Lily E. Johnson Hunter. As one of 12 Hunter children, she shared her childhood with three sisters Lucille, Dorothy, Peggy and eight brothers Larry, Russell, Arthur, Harry, Empy, Bill, Kelly and Robert.

BREMEN â Terry A. Ingle, 63, of Bremen died at 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Melinda (John) Polson, Bremen; son, T. J. (Melissa) Ingle, Plymouth; six grandchildren; sisters, Denise K. (Glen) Miller, Kathleen Doering, both of Milford, Marilyn (Gary) Stillwell, Syracuse; and a brother, David L. (Kim) Ingle, Nappanee.

Two busted for drug lab
PLYMOUTH â The Plymouth Police Department arrested two people Wednesday night after they attempted to purchase precursors to make methamphetamine at a local grocery store.
According to a report from PPD, Earlana Jones and Henry M. Ruiz were located in the parking lot of Martinâs Supermarket and found to be in possession of an illegal drug lab.
Ruiz also had two active warrants through Marshall County.
Both Jones and Ruiz were booked into Marshall County Jail on $1,500 bond.
Driver jailed after hitting McDonalds, tree
PLYMOUTH â Plymouth didnât get off to its best start Wednesday.
Luckily for the Lady Pilgrims, they didnât need to against a struggling New Prairie squad.
Plymouth put the visiting Lady Cougars away with a 16-5 third quarter for a 52-28 victory over winless Sectional 19 foe New Prairie at home at The Rock.

No. 2 OD trumps No. 9 Triton
Ashley Campbell scored 25 points and Class A No. 2 Oregon-Davis pestered No. 9 Triton into 22 turnovers for a 65-55 win over the host Lady Trojans in a match-up of state-ranked Sectional 51 rivals at the Trojan Trench Wednesday night.
Campbell finished with 25 points, four assists and seven rebounds to power the Lady Catsâ offense, while Haley Collings put up a double-double of 13 points and 19 rebounds for OD, which won its second straight.
