PLYMOUTH — Dorothy Woolley, 89, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died of natural causes in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald E. (Carolyn) Woolley and Terry L. (Mary) Woolley; daughter, Gloria (Bill) Espich, all of Plymouth; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther (Harry) Paege of South Bend, Norma Williams of Plymouth; and a brother, Robert (Janette) Birk of Roann.

No heat will cost a cool $200K

MARSHALL CO. — The county council met in a chilly room Monday morning.
Doug Masterson, maintenance supervisor, informed the council that the heating and cooling system for the first and second floors of the Marshall County Building had crashed last week.
“We can’t turn the heat up right now,” said Masterson, adding that the temperature on the first two floors of the building is frozen at whatever temperature the system was set at when it crashed.

Standoff in Argos ends with four in jail

MARSHALL CO. — Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday members of the Indiana State Police ERS (Emergency Response Section) assisted the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department along with members of the Marshall County Drug Task Force and the Plymouth Police Department in serving a search warrant in rural southern Marshall County. The Argos home is located at 5663 18th Road, at the intersection of Filbert and 18th Road.

Gospel singer Chuck Crain to perform in Culver Jan. 19

Southern Gospel singer Chuck Crain will perform live at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church at 124 College Avenue in Culver, Sat., Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Admission is a freewill love offering.

Chuck Crain is in his twelfth season as a featured vocalist at the Presley’s Country Jubilee Show in Branson, Missouri. He sings tenor with the Southern Gospel Quartet, back up vocals for some of the other entertainers, and performs many behind the scenes duties.

Bi-County kicks off tonight

The 48th Annual Bi-County Basketball Tournaments kick off varsity action tonight at four area sites as Bremen's boys and girls hit the road for Culver Community, John Glenn heads to Oregon-Davis, Argos travels to Triton, and LaVille hosts New Prairie.
Girls games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST with the boys games to follow. All subsequent tournament rounds will be hosted by LaVille, with the girls semifinals and consolations scheduled for Thursday and the boys semis and consols slated for Friday. Championships for both tournaments take place Saturday.

Sluggers Bullpen to host Scott clinic Saturday

PLYMOUTH — The American Legion Post 27 Diamond Spyders training facility — the Slugger’s Bullpen — will host a skills clinic with Lansing Catholic High School Head Coach Mike Scott on Saturday.
Scott was Coach of the Year in Michigan, and his 2011 team was state runner-up. He is a graduate of Plymouth High School and a member of the 2000 Pilgrims state runner-up team. He was an all-state honorable mention as a senior and three-year All-NLC first team. At Lynn University he was an Academic All-American and team MVP in 2004.

Plymouth freshmen win home tourney
The Plymouth freshmen boys basketball team won their home tournament on Saturday by defeating Tippecanoe Valley in the championship, 57-20.
Braydon Davidson drained six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to lead the Pilgrims to victory.
The young Pilgrims advanced to the championship with a 36-25 win over Bremen in the first game. Davidson led the team in the opener as well with 10 points while four other players chipped in with six points apiece.
The freshmen are now 8-3 on the season and will host Wawasee on Thursday.
