No. 10 Triton escapes Rochester

BOURBON — Shana Anderson made her return for Triton Wednesday, and just in the nick of time for the Lady Trojans.
The senior swing player completed a five-game suspension in the first quarter, returning to the floor in the second quarter, but after such a long layover it took her awhile to shake off the rust.

Lions top Knox
Krent Hueni, Stuart Schmeltz and Nolan Filchak recorded four wins each, while two other Bremen swimmers collected three wins apiece, and the Lions handed visiting Knox a 121-55 defeat at home in Bremen Tuesday.
Hueni won the 200 and 100 freestyle races and claimed the prize in the medley relay and 400 free relay, while Schmeltz was a winner in the butterfly and breaststroke and in both the medley and 400 free relays, and Filchak won the individual medley, the 500 and was a winner with Hueni and Schmeltz in both the medley relay and 400 free relay.

Triton’s Riffle named Colts Academic All-Star

INDIANAPOLIS — Triton senior football player D.J. Riffle was among 24 seniors named to the 2012 Indianapolis Colts Academic All-Star team Sunday. Riffle was honored with members of the team at Lucas Oil Stadium prior to the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans.
To be selected to the team, players must be ranked in the top 5 percent in their class academically and must start in at least 70 percent of their team’s games.
D.J. is the son of Daniel and Sonya Riffle.

GOSHEN — Martin Ramer, 89, of Goshen, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; son, Amos H. and Annie (Burkholder) Ramer of Goshen; daughters, Lena H. Ramer, and Naomi H. Ramer, both of Goshen; one grandchild; and a brother, Enos Ramer of Wakarusa.

Lady Falcons hold off Plymouth

WALKERTON — Some of the John Glenn teams of the past might have been rattled seeing Plymouth walk into their gym, but not this one.
Even when the Lady Pilgrims threatened down the stretch, Glenn’s girls kept their composure.

Argos wins thriller with CGA, 55-50

ARGOS — It was a hard-fought, neck-and-neck game for most of the night at Phil Weybright Gymnasium, but the Lady Dragons of Argos prevailed over the CGA Eagles 55-50. 
The Eagles started the game off well, taking a 16-10 lead after the first quarter. But everything changed when, with about three minutes left in the first quarter, 6’2” senior Andrijana Cvitkovic left the game with a possible concussion after hitting her head on the floor.

Elliott steps up for Cavs
Winamac held Culver junior Trent Elliott seven points under his average, but Collin Stevens stepped up big as the Cavaliers handed host Winamac a 58-41 defeat Tuesday night.
Stevens led the Cavs with 17 points while Elliott put up 13 for Culver. Micah Budzinski finished with eight points and nine rebounds, Tucker Schutlz scored six with nine rebounds, and Jordan Sanders finished with seven points, four assists and six steals. Everett Krueger scored seven for the Cavs’ balanced offense.
Winamac was led by Parker Fox’s 10 points in the loss.

BREMEN — Lula Blanche Odiorne, 89, of Bremen passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Bremen Health Care Center with all of her family by her side. She was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Bremen to Arthur and Isabelle (Nusbaum) Forsythe. She married Albert L. Odiorne May 4, 1945; he passed in July of 2011.
Blanche graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 1942. She worked as a beautician for many years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Plymouth. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going for walks and gardening.

ARGOS — Leonard “Sam” Cook, 79, of Argos died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 3:08 p.m., at Community Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cook; their daughters, Pamela (Jay) Evans of Tennessee, Robin Dollar of Texas, and Tara (Paul) Fouriner of Vermont; their sons, Randy (Mandy) Cook of Anderson and Todd Tillis of Anderson; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Bertha Fouche of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brothers, Kenny (Wanda) Cook of Illinois and Glenden (Evelyn) Cook of Illinois.

PLYMOUTH — Jennifer Ann (Campiti) Stayton, 63, a resident of Plymouth, passed away in her home at 1:31 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
Born in Fort Wayne April 17, 1949, Jennifer was the daughter of Walter J. and Margaret L. (Botruff) Snider. She graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1967 and attended IUPU of Fort Wayne majoring in biological sciences.
Previously married to Charley Campiti, and her present husband, John L. Stayton, survives her death.
