Lancers avoid letdown
Andrew Hostetler scored a game-high 17 points, while Jeff Haygood supplied a season-high 10 pints, and the Lancers beat North Judson 58-34 at home Tuesday night.
Blake Berger and Nicholas Amor both finished with nine points, and Ryan Bettcher scored eight for the balanced Lancers, who avoided a letdown coming off a big win at John Glenn Saturday.
Judson was paced by Shawn Greenâs 12 points, and Dalton Bailey chipped in eight for his team in the loss, which drops the Bluejays to 2-4 on the season.

MARSHALL CO. â The local Salvation Army group is still working toward its goal of raising $12,000 in its holiday kettle drive.
Local Salvation Army representative Jim Irwin said he was inspired by the tale of LaPorte County pastor Billy Nickrand, who recently rang a Salvation Army bell at a store for 60 hours straight.
âI said to somebody, Iâd just like to get volunteers to ring 60 hours for us, not even 60 hours straight,â said Irwin, who is the Salvation Army service extension representative for Marshall County.
ARGOS â An Argos man was jailed after he allegedly pointed an unloaded gun at his step-daughter and threatened to shoot her.
Marshall County Sheriffâs Department officers responded to a home on the 15000 block of Hickory Road in Argos.
Donald F. Kulcsar, 40, Argos, was allegedly upset over children being noisy in the home.
At that point he pointed the gun.
Officers from Bourbon and Argos were also at the scene.
Kulcsar was booked into Marshall County Jail for neglect of a dependent, a class D felony, and pointing a firearm at a person, a class A misdemeanor.
INDIANAPOLIS â Triton senior Clay Yeo was selected as one of seven IBCA/Subway Player of the Week selections for the week of Dec. 10-15.
Other boys selections were Adams Central senior Dalton Combs, Indianapolis Lutheran senior J.C. Faubion and Evansville Bosse junior JaQuan Lyle, while Logansport junior Whitney Jennings, Brownsburg senior Stephanie Mavunga and Sullivan senior Rhagen Smith were also honored in the weekly recognition program organized by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

McBee powers Peregrines
The Purdue University Calumet womenâs basketball team led from start to finish in a 92-61 win over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond.
Culver Community alumna Patrice McBee was one of six PUC players in double figures as she recorded 15 points to go with seven rebounds and a career-high four blocks.

PLYMOUTH â Edna Fay Nissen, 78, a Plymouth resident most of her life, died suddenly at 3:44 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center - Plymouth Campus.
Surviving are two stepdaughters; Loretta (Kenneth) Barr and Patricia Hite all of Plymouth.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in the New Oakhill Chapel.

ARGOS â R. Eleanor Justus, 85, formerly of Argos, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord Dec. 16, 2012 at 4 a.m. at Pilgrim Manor â Plymouth. She had been in declining health for several months.
She was born Dec. 21, 1926 in Bloomfield to John R. and Frieda M. (Stone) Richardson.
She moved to the Argos community in 1964 coming from Wabash.
On May 20, 1946 in Linton, she married Harley A. Justus; he preceded Jan. 19, 2009.
She was a housewife/homemaker.

PLYMOUTH â Oleta M. Clifton, 87, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 5:15 a.m., at Millerâs Merry Manor Assisted Living, in Plymouth.
Oleta was born March 29, 1925, in South Bend, to George and Martha (Jones) Schall. Oleta married Edgar L. Clifton Oct. 12, 1994, in South Bend. Edgar passed away June 6, 2010.
Oleta worked for Wagoner Electric, in Plymouth. She was a member of the Community Church of God in LaPaz, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge #844 in Culver.

ARGOS â Katelin âKatieâ Grace Sexton, 10, of Argos died Dec. 14, 2012 at 6:10 p.m. at U.S. 31 south of County Road 375N following an automobile accident.
She was born Jan. 24, 2002 in Plymouth to Ed Sexton and Leesa (Taylor) Sexton.
She had lived in Argos for the last year and a half coming from Fulton.

ARGOS â Leesa Diane (Taylor) Sexton, 46, of Argos died Dec. 14, 2012 at 6:10 p.m. at U.S. 31 south of County Road 375N following an automobile accident.
She was born April 12, 1966 in Niles, Mich. to Lee Taylor Jr. and Shirley Doris (Glover) Taylor.
She had lived in Argos for the last year and a half coming from Fulton.
On Aug. 2, 1997 in Eureka, Calif. she married Ed Sexton.
She was business manager for the Fulton County Library in Rochester.
