When Kay Davis exited Culver's town hall the last workday of 2011, the door closed on 30 years of her service to the town of Culver as its deputy clerk, through five clerk treasurers and countless changes, major and minor, in the day-to-day operations which keep the town running. She also represents the only consistent witness to the inner world of town operations in a gradually changing Culver over three decades.

PLYMOUTH â The excitement began about four years ago, when Marshall County Neighborhood Center board member Karen Barden heard about a âDancing with the Starsâ event in South Bend. Barden thought the concept of having community members vote on friendsâ and coworkersâ dancing performances might work as a fundraiser for the Neighborhood Center. She was right â and the now-annual event brings in thousands of dollars each year.
âI think people enjoy (seeing) people they know dance, and itâs very entertaining,â said Barden.

Naturally sarcastic, Cooper said, âIâm thankful that tax time is less than two months away.â After all, he has a transmission to replace in his out-of-commission car.
