PLYMOUTH â€” Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that occurred at 10099 7th Rd near Plymouth Indiana Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH â€” It was a sea of red and black as 351 uniformed students flooded into the new Washington Discovery Academy â€” formerly Washington Elementary â€” on the first day of school Wednesday.
â€śItâ€™s been so exciting today,â€ť said principal Andrew Hartley. â€śMy goal was just to make sure we had the most welcoming environment today.â€ť
Hartley is in a new situation this year as well â€” he was formerly assistant principal at Plymouth High School. He explained how the Discovery Academy will work, starting with the schoolâ€™s focus on project-based learning (PBL).
PLYMOUTH â€” Beginning today, Plymouth emergency responders may be checking victimâ€™s smart phones for clues to their medical history and current medications. Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) launched a free smart phone app Wednesday called ICE (In Case of Emergency) Michiana, intended to provide a quick way for emergency responders to send critical information to hospitals.
PLYMOUTH â€” Moved by the outpouring of support for her daughter Morgan Uceny as she made a run at the gold in the womenâ€™s Olympic 1500-meters in London last week, Brenda Uceny wishes to send a personal thanks to everyone who showed support and encouragement to Morgan and the rest of the Uceny family.
PLYMOUTH â€” Plymouth High School students and families participated in a Dodge Booster Club Fundraiser July 21 and raised $2,140 for the schoolâ€™s Athletic Booster Program. The Dodge brand contributed $20 for each test drive in a new 2012 Dodge Dart, Durango, Journey or Grand Caravan.

PLYMOUTH â€” There are still tickets available to see three-time Nascar Champion Tony Stewart run the dirt track in the SOD wing sprint car race at the Plymouth Speedway Saturday.
Front and pit gates open at 2 p.m. with hot laps starting at 6 p.m. and opening ceremonies scheduled for 7 p.m.
Cost is $25 for adults, $8 for children 6-12, and children 5 and under get in free. Pit passes are $30.

SOUTH BEND â€”Â A number of area fighters will be featured at the Michiana Fight League 26 event at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend Saturday.
Plymouthâ€™s John Popi and Dax Guericke will fight for titles at 185 and 125, respectively, while Knoxâ€™s Travis Smith and Brandon Shelhart will also compete in title bouts at 205 and 135. Derrick Duszynski will fight for the 170-pound title, while Plymouthâ€™s Trent Keyser, Ed Johnson and Ricky Miller as well as Wesley Wickizer will also be featured on the 20-fight card.

Bremen fell 4-1 in a dual boys tennis meet with visiting Concord Wednesday.
The Lionsâ€™ sole victory came at 2 doubles, where Krent Hueni and Tommy Foster blanked Aaron Allen and Riley Huffer in two 6-0 sets.
Jalen Bayer extended Matt Kotva to three sets at 2 singles but ultimately succumbed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
