PLYMOUTH — Plymouth split games for the second straight day in the Patriot Classic Friday, losing the first game to Highland Post 180, 10-0 and getting the victory in the night cap over Crawfordsville Post 72, 7-4.

Highland starter Anthony Gomez allowed only one Diamond Spyder hit, a second inning single by Nick Latham and allowed only four base runners in the 10-run-rule shortened game.

PLYMOUTH — Encore Performing Arts will be hosting Alligator Blackbird for their second Music in the Park concert on Friday, July 6. The group combines rock, reggae, folk and pop influences to create a sound with something for everyone.
The group uses acoustic guitars, bass, ukulele, Cajun (box drum) and other percussion, along with vocal harmonies and the dynamic/soulful voice of front man Fabian Guzman, a Plymouth High School grad. This three-piece band can cover enough musical ground to satisfy just about any crowd.
PLYMOUTH — In deference to the extreme heat, the Plymouth Farmers’ Market will forgo any activities other than a taste of blueberry shortcake.
The Plymouth Farmers’ Market is held Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the G & G parking lot at Garro and River, east of Michigan. Each weekend features entertainment and exhibits. The last day for the Market is Oct. 8, the second Saturday of the month.

MARSHALL CO. — The Marshall County Humane Society board met last week to discuss plans for the animal shelter’s 30-year anniversary celebration, coming up July 21.
This is the first anniversary event of any kind that the shelter has had, according to board president Vickie Talcott.
“A lot of organizations don’t last that long, and I think we are doing well,” said Talcott. “I was here before there was an animal shelter, and it was not a good situation. (Animals) had almost no chance of survival.”

PLYMOUTH — It was standing room only Monday evening at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, where it was estimated that well over a thousand people showed up to honor the memory of Cody Poczik and Hunter Brandt, two 16-year-olds who passed away June 28 in a tragic car accident. People filled the main sanctuary, lined the halls outside, and filled another separate room where there was a video feed of the service.

John was born Nov. 22, 1955, in Warsaw to Lloyd and Lavon (Rupe) Lamaster.
