DONALDSON — Sister Bertram Boeving, PHJC, 83, of Donaldson died July 2, 2012 at Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson of natural causes.
She is survived by a sister, Sister Wilma Boeving, PHJC of Donaldson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Catherine Kasper Home chapel, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.

PLYMOUTH — Louise Ethel Gifford Kelley, 89, a Plymouth resident since 2007, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. She had previously lived in the state of Massachusetts, Hobart; Merrillville; Gary and Culver.
The daughter of Thomas Albert and Edna Jerome Myrick Gifford, Louise was born March 12, 1923 in Acushnet, Mass. She was a 1941 graduate of New Bedford High School in Massachusetts. She had furthered her education by taking courses in Bookkeeping.

Indian lore and two local authors will take center stage at the Antiquarian and Historical Society of Culver's annual meeting Saturday, July 7, starting at 10 a.m., in the large meeting room of the Culver Public Library.

Excessive heat warning for county

July 3, 2012

MARSHALL CO. — An excessive heat warning is in effect from noon today until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 7 for Marshall County. Temps will be in the 90s.
Temperatures will be in the middle to upper 90's and highs of 100 are possible for Thursday and Friday. The heat index will peak around 100 degrees each afternoon and even as high as 105 to 110 Thursday and Friday.
Take extra precaution if you must be outside.

Burn ban will remain in place over holiday

MARSHALL CO. — The county-wide burn ban first put in place nearly a month ago and revised to specifically prohibit fireworks last week will remain in effect for Independence Day festivities this Wednesday, said Marshall County commissioners Monday morning in their regularly scheduled meeting.

'Day of Hope' planned for Plymouth teen

PLYMOUTH — Just a month ago, 15-year-old Hope Banghart, a Plymouth High School student, was going about her daily life without any problems. When Hope started complaining to her mother, Debbie Banghart, of feeling light headed and signs of fatigue, her mother figured the teen was just feeling under the weather because of the summer heat. Unfortunately, Hope’s symptoms kept getting worse.

John Glenn’s Anna Schmeltz shot a 47 to beat out Plymouth’s Morgan Oberley by seven strokes and win the girls 12-14 flight during a Marshall County Junior Tour event at Round Barn, moving into a tie for first with Oberley in the season standings. Katie McDonald of Plymouth shot a 57 for third in the flight.
