BOURBON â€”Â Cooling off at the splash pad in Bourbon is now only an option during certain times of day, due to a town-wide water shortage warning.
The town is currently under a warning issued by the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Homeland Security because of the drought conditions. The goal of the warning is to avoid or reduce water shortage, relieve stressed sources of water, and to anticipate the need for mandatory water use restrictions.
ARGOS â€“ Use duct tape on a wound? Improvise with whatever is in your truck? Yes, according to the Farm Safety Seminar at the Marshall County 4-H Fair Sunday night. Presenter Benni Weldy, a full-time paramedic and firefighter with the Zionsville Fire Department, is also the public education officer. The seminar was sponsored by the Culver Young Farmers and was well attended.
ARGOS â€”Â Carly McCay, a 2012 Argos High School graduate, has signed to play soccer at Hanover College.
McCay, daughter of Mike and Rhonda McCay, was a four-year letter winner for Argos. A center midfielder and captain, she led the Dragons to the semistate and Northern Indiana Soccer Conference title this past season. She was a first team all-conference selection twice for the Dragons, won the varsity mental attitude award and was named honorable mention for the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Academic All-State team.
8U Denver Tourney Champions
The 8U travel baseball team, sponsored by U.S. Granules, played at the Town and Country State tournament Districts hosted in Plymouth, last weekend and finished fourth which allowed them to transfer to semi-state, hosted in Denver. The team is also transferred out of semi-state as a #4 seed to the state finals this weekend. The team plays its first game Friday at 6 p.m. in Sweetser.

TERRE HAUTE â€”Â Robert Henry Langdon, 91, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1920 in Plymouth to James H. Langdon and Edna Freyman Langdon. Robert was a leading sales representative for DX and DA Lubricant companies from 1948-1983. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Klein Langdon.
Margaret (Peggy) Young

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Margaret L. â€śPeggyâ€ť Young, 90, of Plymouth, passed away at 12:38 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Plymouth.
Margaret was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Michigan Town, to Ray and Flossie (Whiteman) Russell. Margaret became the bride of Gordon Young, in May of 1939. Gordon preceded Margaret in death Aug. 1, 1970. Together they raised their six children. They had lived in the Marshall County Area, since 1951.

LAKEVILLE â€” Sharon (Back) Anderson, 61, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Lakeville, died July 12, 2012 in Arizona.
Survivors include: her husband, David Anderson of Phoenix; two daughters, Fawn Pingel of Hobart and Tina Phillips of Elkhart; one son, David Anderson Jr. of Phoenix; her mother, Mattie Watson of Mishawaka; one brother, Terry Martin-Back of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Lori Hillman of Santa Fe, Texas; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Â
Warren R. Harner

PLYMOUTH â€” Warren R. Harner, 72, a lifetime Plymouth resident was called home at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012. His passing, following an illness, occurred at his residence of over 40 years on State Road 17 in Plymouth with his loving family at his side.
Warren was born in Bremen Feb. 8, 1940, the son of Leander â€śLeeâ€ť and Edith E. (Huff) Harner. He was a 1959 graduate of West High School.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Richard E. Taylor Sr., 90, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died July 14, 2012, in the Life Care Center of Rochester.
He is survived by a daughter, Beverly J. and Joda J. Hoeffler, Plymouth; and two sons, Thomas E. and Janet R. Taylor, Plymouth and Richard E. and Julie Taylor Jr., Nappanee; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Roma Jones and a brother, Walter â€śMikeâ€ť Taylor, both of Plymouth.

BOURBON â€”Â Maxine R. Hayes, 91, of the Bourbon and Plymouth area, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 12:23 a.m. in Bremen Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1920 at Bourbon to Ralph Hanes and Bessie Marie Ames Hanes. She was a homemaker and had worked and retired from Ristance Wire Co. of Bremen. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, handicrafts, gardening, â€śgoing to the spaâ€ť, sulky horse racing and spending time with her family.
