CULVER â€” Excessive temperatures last weekend forced a rare cancellation of Culver Summer Schoolsâ€™ annual Moonlight Serenade â€” or, to be more prescise, the event was â€śpostponed,â€ť according to Culver Upper Camp assistant director Emily Ryman, who announced the postponement Saturday night.
â€śDue to the extreme heat conditions aboard the Ledbetter,â€ť she wrote, including â€śsteel hull boat which has been baking in the 100 degree sun for the past four days...we have cancelled the Moonlight Serenade for this evening. We hope to re-schedule it for a later date.â€ť
PLYMOUTH â€” Bids were opened for the Influent Headworks Control System as the city councilâ€™s board of public works and safety met Monday evening.
Five bids were received and opened. All five met the requirements as follows: Form 96 was signed and completed; addenda were received; a financial statement was attached; a bid bond was attached; and the E-Verify affidavit was included.

BREMEN â€” Joseph R. Blakley, 67, of Bremen, went peacefully to be with Jesus Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1945 to Harold and Ruth (Jones) Blakley in Adrian, Mich. He married Sylvia Roebuck July 2, 1966.
Joseph honorably served his country in Vietnam. He worked for Universal Bearings in Bremen for more than 13 years. Joseph was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of St. Paulâ€™s Lutheran Church of Bremen. He was also an avid golfer.

OCALA, Fla. â€”Â Joan Faust went to be with her Lord June 29, 2012. She was raised in Plymouth, where she graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949. Joan was a resident of Ocala, Fla. Her husband Richard Faust Sr. preceded her in death February, 2003, also a sister Ellen Bauman Rosebaum passed away in 1985, brothers Michael and Howard Bauman 2008 and Laurence Bauman 2009.
Surviving is a stepson, Richard Faust Jr., his wife, Estella Faust; grandchildren, Cynthia and Karen Faust and a great-grandson, Jaden Florence all from Ocala, Fla.
