FRIDAY, JUNE 1
• The Walnut Church of the Brethren, 5975 19th Road, Argos is hosting a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will be used to buy material used in making blankets for the neonatal unit of Memorial Hospital.
SATURDAY, JUNE 2
• The First United Methodist Church will be serving apple dumplings with caramel sauce at a booth at the Yellow River Festival. Proceeds will go toward the Mission Projects that the church sponsors.

Elementary teacher publishes book on bullying

PLYMOUTH — LaVille Elementary School music teacher Lisa Head recently published her first children’s book, Calbert: The Third-Grade Cowboy. The book is a fictional story about bullying written at a second and third grade reading level.
“I have a son who is at that level and I told myself as I started writing that (the story) fit best at that age level,” said Head, continuing, “I’ve been a foster parent for many years and a teacher for many years. I’ve had children from both sides in my home…both those that are bullies and those that have been bullied.”

Meth trash is growing problem is area waterways

PLYMOUTH — Last week members of the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section (MSS) and the Underwater Search Rescue/Recovery Team (USRT), joined forces to clear meth trash from the Yellow River in Marshall County.
The state police recently became aware of the problem after a local fisherman reported seeing several suspicious items floating in the Yellow River near Peach Road and 14th Road that he believed could be meth trash.

PLYMOUTH — A Cook Lake resident since 1954, Marion C. Jolly, 81, passed away at 1:34 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 of a cancer related illness in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. As a Christian man he was a dedicated husband, supportive father, grandfather, helpful neighbor and friend to many.
Marion was born in Stillwell Jan. 5, 1931, the only son of Merlin L. and Bertha A. (Hancock) Jolly and was joined by two sisters. In 1939 the family moved to Plymouth.

Visitation is Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home.
Funeral is Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Van Gilder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grace inks LaVille standout Feitz

LAKEVILLE — Grace’s women’s basketball team has added the next piece to its puzzle in LaVille High School’s Jesse Feitz.
Feitz is a 6-foot-2 post player who earned First Team All-Northern State Conference honors as a senior.
She averaged 13.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game during her senior year, according to VarVee.com. The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association named her Honorable Mention for Senior All-State as well.
