Fraizer arrested for conterfeit ID

Officer Shanna Gilmer of the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of US 30 and Michigan Road Sunday at 9:42 p.m.
Ashley Frazier was found to be in possession of a counterfeit government issued driver’s license. She was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail where she was booked in for possession, produce or distribute government ID not issued by Government entity, and was given a $750.00 cash bond. Frazier is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 June 12 at 8:30am.

Plymouth Building Trades to unveil 34th home

PLYMOUTH — One of Plymouth High School’s most successful programs will unveil its handiwork this weekend as the Plymouth Building Trades class holds its open house for the program’s 34th home Sunday, May 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. The home is located at 937 Ohio St. in Plymouth.
The class is built entirely by area students giving them first hand experience in nearly all aspects of the construction trade.
“You get hands on experience,” said Ben Smith one of the students in the program. “You learn by doing there’s no doubt about that.”

National Nursing Home Week celebrated

PLYMOUTH — Local nursing homes are offering special activities this week in honor of National Nursing Home Week, an annual observance sponsored by the American Health Care Association of Washington, D.C. and the Indiana Health Care Association.
“Our residents are the people who have nurtured our community helping it flourish and grow,” said activities director of Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth April Cooper. “This special week gives us an opportunity to celebrate them and their journey.”

Boys track sectionals take place tonight

The boys state track and field tournament opens tonight as Plymouth plays host to Caston, CMA, Culver, Manchester, North Miami, Northfield, Rochester, Tippy Valley and Triton, while Bremen, Glenn, LaVille, Mishawaka, Mishawaka Marian, Penn, Adams, Clay, Riley, St. Joe and Washington travel to the Penn Sectional at 5 p.m.
As in the girls' tilt, boys will compete for a top-four spot to advance to the regional round of the tournament in Kokomo next Thursday, and the top three athletes there will advance to the state finals in Bloomington June 2.

Girls tennis sectional schedule announced

The draws for the IHSAA's 38th annual team girls tennis tournament were announced Monday night.
Plymouth drew the bye at the Bremen Sectional and will look for a 12th straight team title as it begins sectional play Thursday against the winner of Wednesday night's opener between LaVille and Triton at 4:30 p.m. at DeSantis Courts. Bremen will play John Glenn in another Northern State Conference matchup Thursday at 4:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to face the winner of the other Thursday semifinal in the championship Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Stephenson commits to ONU

PLYMOUTH — It all started with a lie.
Plymouth senior Danny Stephenson recalls how, at the age of six, he couldn’t wait to start playing football. So he and a group of friends slyly informed Marshall County Junior Football League organizers they were eight in order to be eligible to play in the league two years early. Fast forward 12 years, and Stephenson is getting the opportunity to continue playing the sport he’s always loved.
After mulling over several offers, Stephenson has committed to play at NCAA Division III Ohio Northern beginning in the 2012-13 season.

Lady Pilgrims win on Senior Night

PLYMOUTH — Marissa Sullivan and Emilee Keilman were honored before the game as part of senior night festivities for the Plymouth softball team Monday night; they could have been honored after the game as well.
Sullivan had a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Pilgrims and pitched her way to seven strikeouts for the win on the mound. Her battery mate Keilman drove her home with a single in the bottom of the first to get the Plymouth scoring started in a 5-1 Northern Lakes Conference victory over the Panthers.

Bembenick is Assistant Golf Professional of Year

FRANKLIN — Plymouth native Michael Bembenick has been selected as the 2012 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year for his work at Meridian Hills Country Club.
Bembenick is a former Swan Lake shop assistant. A year-round hockey player in high school, he started playing playing golf as a sophomore when he realized his hockey and baseball schedules didn’t fit together very well.
Now Bembenick is serving on the Indiana Section PGA Assistant’s Board Committee and is working for a Hall of Fame Golf Professional, Jack Barber.

Plymouth falls at NorthWood
Plymouth battled with two runs in its last at-bat, but fell short of the win in a 6-4 Northern Lakes Conference loss at NorthWood Monday.
Chase Peters, Connor Flynn and Ike Kastner all doubled for the Pilgrims, who out-hit NorthWood 8-7 but committed five errors in the road loss.
Jordan Scheetz took the loss on the mound.
Chad Ervin and Hunter Lane doubled, while Tanner Roberts got the pitching win for NorthWood, which plated four runs in the second and third innings and held on for the win.
