PLYMOUTH â The Plymouth bats finally came back to life Friday night against the visiting Wawasee Warriors. And boy was it needed.
The Pilgrims punched out 15 hits in the contest, including eight doubles, and defeated the Northern Lakes Conference foe Warriors 10-9.
Wawasee was able to get on the board first with three first inning runs.Â
Baseball
Lions beat LaVille
Nate Leeper struck out eight while allowing four hits with four walks for no earned runs in six innings of work, and Bremen handed LaVille a 9-1 Northern State Conference loss at home Friday.
Sean Knepper went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBI for the Lions in the win.
Ryan Bettcher tripled and Quentin Herbster doubled for LaVille in the road loss.

PLYMOUTH â Oliver Ford and Plymouth High School are partnering to help raise up to $6,000 in support of the Music Boosters as part of Ford Motor Companyâs Drive One 4 Ur School program.

PLYMOUTH â If you drove by St. Michael Catholic School Thursday, you might have noticed groups of children doing laps around the building in tie-dyed shirts. All 171 of the students enrolled participated in this yearâs âRace for Educationâ where students sent letters to their friends and family requesting sponsors for the one-day event.
âThe whole school is involved,â said principal Trudy Nawara Thursday. âAnd itâs a beautiful day for it. Sometimes when itâs too hot (the students) canât last very long.â

PLYMOUTH â Plymouth Schools teacher, Suzie Clevenger, has been chosen one of three âEducators of the Yearâ by WNDU-TV in South Bend.
Clevenger has taught since 1998 at the Marshall County Alternative School housed in Plymouth. Each semester she typically has between 16-20 students who have been referred to the alternative program for a variety of reasons.

MISHAWAKA â William Lee Overmyer, 84, of Culver died at 10:26 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; four children, Patricia Ann Smith, Kent Overmyer, Steven Overmyer, and Michael (Debbie) Overmyer, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Â
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donorâs choice. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.

MONTEREY â Ray W. âBillâ Arthurhultz, 64, of Monterey died May 6, 2012 at 3:14 p.m.
He is survived by sons, Steve Arthurhultz of Houston, Texas, Kelly Arthurhultz of Florida; a brother, Dan Arthurhultz of Monterey; and two grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services.

BREMEN â Dale Schoner, 95, died Sunday, May 6, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Virgina; five children, Dalthea (Corky) Coughlin, Jackie Wilson, Richard (Debbie) Schoner, Donna (Earl) Minnich and Cherylee Schoner and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of visitation there will be a memorial service held at the chapel in the Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10 a.m.

ROCHESTER â Mrs. Joan Smiley, 86, of Rochester, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 9:08 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012, after her son recited the 23rd Psalm and while her family sang Amazing Grace. Her death was due to tetanus, following an accident while preparing to garden, which was something she loved  to do. She died at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka.
