Triton announces 2012-13 school calendar

BOURBON — The Triton school board announced its 2012-13 school year calendar at its monthly meeting last Monday. According to the calendar, the school year will begin Aug. 14 and conclude May 23.
Early dismissals are planned for every Friday. Elementary dismissal will take place at 2:35 p.m. and high school dismissal at 2:45 p.m.
Winter vacation begins Dec. 24 and classes resume Jan. 7.

Argos spring musical is this weekend

The Argos High School choral department will be presenting "Fiddler on the Roof" this Friday and Saturday, April 13, 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Argos High School auditorium. All seats are $5 and available at the door or at the high school office prior to the performance.
Other area weekend events include:
SATURDAY, APRIL 14
• The Arts Council of Marshall County April meeting is at 10 a.m. at Heartland Artists, 103 W. LaPorte St., Plymouth. All interested parties are invited to attend and help plan the council's show at the Yellow River Festival.

Planning to vote absentee? Here's what you need to know

PLYMOUTH — Residents may now vote by absentee ballot if they are a registered voter of the precinct where they reside.
Absentee voting began Monday, April 9, in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office, 211 W. Madison St., Plymouth, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m. for the upcoming primary election May 8. The office will also be open Saturday, April 28 and Saturday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Schoff surprises friends, family with visit

PLYMOUTH — When Billy and Kathy Schoff first heard that their 18-year-old son, Austin, had been hit by a car while walking on Michigan Road in February, they never dreamed that he would be walking again and talking just two months later.
“From day one on the rehab floor, the doctors had a progress plan,” said Billy. “They had to keep scrapping it because Austin was progressing so rapidly.”

Plymouth dimes Rochester
Chase Peters gave up six hits for four earned runs, and Plymouth’s order cranked out 12 hits in a 16-6, six-inning diming of Rochester Tuesday at Bill Nixon Field.
Joe Knapp, Ike Kastner and Hayden Skirvin all doubled for the Pilgrims, and Skirvin finished with five RBI while Kastner and Peters each batted in two runs.
