LJH places first in nation in anti-bullying contest

PLYMOUTH — Back in November, when Lincoln Jr. High School teacher Amy Gerard had her students enter a contest using the online program Bullying Academy, she had no way of knowing that they would place first in the nation based on their test scores after going through the unit's content. But they did, and Friday the school held a celebration complete with a pizza party and a visit from Dr. Tony Bennett, head of Indiana Department of Education.

Restricted traffic on Pierce Street starting Tuesday

PLYMOUTH — NIPSCO will be installing a gas main on Pierce Street from Michigan Street to Walnut Street beginning Tuesday and continuing for approximately 10 days. During this time, traffic on Pierce Street will be restricted in the westbound lane.

Weekend crash sends 5 to hospital

BOURBON — Toby Grose, 40, of Elkhart was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 approaching Beech Road Saturday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by Coleen Gallinger-Miller, 33, of Bourbon, who was traveling northbound on Beech Road. Both vehicles came to rest in the median following the collision. Five people from both of the vehicles were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw and treated for minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

TCU Athlete of the Week Josh Anderson

John Glenn’s Josh Anderson was named All-Northern State Conference for the Falcons last week. He was the lone first team pick for Glenn, which placed third in the NSC, after powering his team with 16.3 points an outing in his senior season.

King's Jewelry Athlete of the Week Andrijana Cvitkovic

March 19, 2012

Culver Girls Academy’s Andrijana Cvitkovic was named to the IBCA’s Girls Underclass All-State first team after averaging 13.57 points per game for the Lady Eagles this season. The junior is one of just 15 underclass players in the state to receive the honor.
