PLYMOUTH — It was a day of celebration at Riverside as the school was officially named a “School to Watch” in the state of Indiana.
Dignitaries including the Indiana State Superintendent of Public Education Dr. Tony Bennett were on hand at the school to celebrate the naming of Riverside as a School to Watch - an honor that has responsibilities attached to it.
A death sentence request has been filed in the case of Roy Bell, one of three area men accused in the shooting death of Wilma Upsall near Leiters Ford in November.
Fulton County Prosecutor Rick Brown filed the death penalty request in Fulton County Superior Court Wednesday.
PLYMOUTH — The Liberty Street Depot fire has been determined arson, and there is a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrest of the suspect(s) involved in the half-million dollar loss.
The Plymouth Fire Department, Chief Investigator John Pasley, along with the combined efforts of the Plymouth Police Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, is continuing a fire investigation into the cause of the fire, located at 301 S. Liberty, Plymouth, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10.

CULVER — Lois A. Day, 77, of Culver died March 14, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Francis M. Day of Culver; sons, Dean (Pat Wright) Day of Stillwater, Mass., Dale (Shellie) Day of Pretty Lake; daughter, Linda (Sandy) O’Dell of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Don Yeoman of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be Saturday, March 17 at 3 p.m. at Poplar Grove Cemetery, Culver.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

PLYMOUTH — Cecil Dean Martin, 81, of 4B Road, Plymouth, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 10:45 a.m., in his home surrounded by his family.
PLYMOUTH — Five Plymouth Aquatics Club Sharks earned top spots at the Indiana Northwest Divisional Championship recently at Crown Point High School to claim berths to the Indiana Age Group State Championship meet this weekend in Indianapolis.
Will Serf, a veteran of championship meets, returns to swim the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly. He will also celebrate his 14th birthday on Saturday.
“I believe this is the second time Will and I have celebrated his birthday together on the Natatorium pool deck,” said Sharks head coach Leanne Senter.
WALKERTON — Kyle Pletcher, a 2006 John Glenn grad, spends his days as an accountant with Cardno JFNew in Walkerton. But by night — and in any other time he can find — Pletcher is a runner. Whether it’s on the treadmill at LifePlex in Plymouth, or outside near his home, Pletcher spends about two hours running every day.
Right now, he’s working toward an ambitious goal –the Boston Marathon, one of the most well known racing events in the world. The race attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators and thousands of participants each year.
