Biggest fire in city's history

March 12, 2012

PLYMOUTH — To say that Plymouth’s new Fire Chief Rod Miller hit the ground running in his second full week as fire chief is an understatement. The Chief was in command at the largest fire in the city’s history, one lasting more than 24 hours.
Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, firemen were called to the Liberty Street Depot building at the corner of Liberty and Pennsylvania Streets in Plymouth.
“By the time we got here, we’d seen the billows of smoke coming down the street,” said Miller, who also said the building, which was built in the 1870s and is about 80,000 square feet.

Trojans fall to Canterbury in 2OT regional championship

March 12, 2012

BOURBON — Clay Yeo got the record, but the Trojans fell short of a repeat regional championship.
Yeo’s driving layup from the lane with 1:22 left in regulation secured him Triton’s all-time scoring record, but when Davis Rao buried a 3 from the wing on the other end, the announcement was drown out by the Canterbury fans.
Rao’s triple sparked an 8-0 run as Kai Foday knocked down a big one-and-one with 28 seconds on the clock to knot the game up at 48-all and force overtime, and the 6-3 forward followed up with an overtime-opening trey of his own to put the Cavaliers up 51-48.
