OWI #1 arrest made in county, jail cuts costs in 2011

February 9, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Nearly 300 individuals in Marshall County were arrested for operating while intoxicated in 2011, according to a recent report from Sheriff Tom Chamberlin. OWI was the number one reason for arrests last year, followed closely by failure to appear and driving while suspended. Possession of methamphetamine was at the bottom of the top 10, however, which Chamberlin said is an improvement from past years.

PLYMOUTH — The gods of Mount Olympus were known for some pretty quirky antics, but even those were nothing compared to the off beat shenanigans of the gods and goddesses of the latest Plymouth High School Theatre Department production, “Out of Our Greeking Minds” playing Friday and Saturday at the PHS Auditorium. Show time is 7 p.m. both nights.

Polling sites chosen

February 9, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Members of the Marshall County Election Board came before the County Commissioners this week to request final approval of the polling sites for 2012.
Members Julie Fox, Nelson Chipman, and Roger Wise had given the commissioners a proposed list several weeks ago. Some polling sites have been combined for use with several precincts. Precincts are determined by the number of registered voters.
All registered voters will receive a card in the mail from Voters’ Registration informing them of the polling site where they can cast their ballot.

Thrice as nice for Lady Cats in win over Cavs

February 9, 2012

HAMLET — There’s an expression that says there are few things tougher in sport than to beat a team three times in a single season.
Oregon-Davis repudiated that old claim in convincing fashion Wednesday night, handing Culver a 55-36 Sectional 51 loss in a quarterfinal at The Den.
The No. 4 Lady Cats’ margin of victory was even greater than the back-to-back wins they took from the Cavaliers Jan. 23 and 24 and gave OD the right to advance to face Westville in a semifinal Friday at 7 p.m. CT.

February 9, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Ancilla College student-athletes work hard at their sport and in the classroom, but they also take time out to give back to the local community.
Student-athletes from the Ancilla softball and volleyball programs were on hand as volunteers during the St. Michael’s School “A Night in Italy” fundraiser late last month. The student-athletes helped with set-up, serving during the event and clean-up.
