PLYMOUTH — Marshall County Extension Office and Farm Bureau Insurance are sponsoring a crop update meeting Tuesday, Feb. 7. It will be held in room 304 of the Marshall County Building, 112 W. Jefferson Street, Plymouth. It will start at 9:15 a.m. with registration for those utilizing the program as a Private Applicator Recertification Program (PARP). Also, there are continuing educational hours for Certified Crop Advisors. Educational program will start at 10 a.m. and program will conclude at 1 p.m. with lunch being provided.

PLYMOUTH — Saturday night was a night for dancing… hours and hours of it in fact.
Many students filled the Plymouth High School cafeteria Saturday afternoon for a dance marathon organized by Hannah Jacobs and Cassie Gaines, both students at PHS, and both who have been patients at Riley Hospital for Children. Jacobs has spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down and Gaines has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

PLYMOUTH — How does a school combat cyber bullying not on school grounds or that has been posted on social media not during the school day?
That’s what the Plymouth Community School Corporation has had to handle this week. While no specific names were targeted online, several students used Twitter and Facebook to verbally battle against a comment made regarding another student’s weight.
The Culver Lions Club's annual community awards night proved as memorable an event as its predecessors last Wednesday, when Jeanette Geiselman was feted as Citizen of the Year, and Ward and Esther Miller's Painter and the Poet as Organization of the Year.
Lion Marilyn Kelly introduced the Millers, noting she and Esther "go way back," having shared meals, parties, and child-rearing.
"I watched her talent grow," said Kelly. And then into her life came a very special gentleman with a way with words. They've become a big part of the community."

Bremen clinches share of Northern State Conference
Bremen got off to a fast start with 20 points in the first quarter, and the Lady Lions clinched a share of the Northern State Conference crown with a 59-25 win at Jimtown Thursday.
Jenna Pfeiffer scored 24 points to lead all scorers, her third straight game with 20-plus points, including 35 in a win at Wawasee Tuesday. Kailee Feldman finished with 15 in the regular season-closer.
Jimtown was led by Ally Vicsik’s nine points.
PLYMOUTH — Ancilla College student-athletes continued to do well in the classroom as the college reported some hefty increases in grade point averages for fall athletes over last year’s fall numbers.
The Ancilla Athletic Department reported that 52 of its student-athletes finished the fall 2011 semester with a 3.0 grade point average or better, an increase of 11 students over the same period last year. Twenty-one of these students had a 3.5. GPA and many of those were on the dean’s list. Overall, the fall athlete GPA came in at 2.771 compared to a 2.608 GPA in the fall of 2010.
