PLYMOUTH â€” Andrew McNeal, 29, of Plymouth was crossing the median of U.S. 31 at the intersection of 2C Road around 1 p.m. Monday when he pulled into the path of a semi truck heading south on 31. The driver of the semi, Bozo Tazan, 51, of South Bend, was unable to stop and struck McNeal's minivan, causing the van to spin off the road. McNeal did not have a seatbelt on, and he was thrown from the vehicle. McNeal's passenger, 6-month-old Reese McNeal, was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. Injuries to the infant are unknown.
PLYMOUTH â€” A collision between a semi truck and a van Monday afternoon left highway 31 southbound significantly backed up for several hours. EMS and fire personnel were called to the scene of an accident at about 1 p.m. near the U.S. 31 and U.S. 6 intersection. One individual was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The Plymouth Public Library is hosting "Dogs at the Library" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Marshall County 4-H Dog Club students and their gentle, well trained dogs will be in the Childrenâ€™s Room to allow children the opportunity to read to dogs. No sign-up required. The Bourbon Public Library Book Club will discuss The Dollmaker by Harriet Simpson Arnow. The book club is open to any adult, and will be held the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library. Even if you havenâ€™t read the book, come to be a part of the discussion and help select future books.

BREMEN â€”Â Janet M. Abbott, 69, of Bremen, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Community Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by her husband, Ed of Bremen; two sons, Jeff (Michaela) Abbott of Bremen and David (Susan) Abbott of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Sents of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Paul (Phyllis) VanDerKeere of Bremen; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at St. Dominic Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be following the service at Bremen Cemetery.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Catherine Bradfield Olson, 87, a long time resident of West Township and Plymouth passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Catherine was born Nov. 26, 1924 in Mishawaka to Richard and Orpha Hoover Burkett.
Oct. 30, 1943, Catherine married Virgil Bradfield, who preceded her in death in 1972. She later married Clarence Olson, Nov. 15, 1975 who preceded her in death June 19, 2011.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Eloise Runkle, 83, a Plymouth resident since 1988, coming from Rochester, passed away at 1 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Culver.
The daughter of Rev. Roy R. and Blanche R. Cochran Alexander, Eloise was born Jan. 26, 1929 in Hartford City. She was a 1947 graduate of Roll High School.
Feb. 21, 1965 in South Bend, Eloise married Charles Runkle.Â Charles died Jan. 2, 1985.
Bremenâ€™s Abe Hall won the heavyweight championship in double overtime at the Merrillville Wrestling Semistate Saturday.
Culver Academiesâ€™ Kayla Miracle became the first female state qualifier in the history of the IHSAAâ€™s 75-year state wrestling series with a fourth-place finish at the Merrillville Semistate Saturday.
