CULVER â Six-member modern dance group Body Vox, based in Portland, Oregon, wowed their audience Tuesday evening at Culver Academies as they performed acrobatic feats, surprising dance moves, and spunky steps riddled with personality.
âWe are a unique blend of all different kinds of physical movements and theatrical effects,â said Body Vox choreographer Ashley Roland. âIf youâve never seen dance before we are a good group to see.â

HAMLET â Jesse Avarone returned to form for Oregon-Davis Wednesday, and the Lady Cats were glad to have her back.
The sophomore combo player put up a game-high 26 points with three steals and seven rebounds in her second game back with a jammed finger after seeing limited action in a game in Chicago Saturday, and her performance helped lift the Class A No. 4 Cats to a 69-56 victory over visiting New Prairie in a weather-postponed Bi-County opener at The Den.
OD advances to play Bremen tonight in the Bi-County semifinals at 6:30 p.m. EST at LaVille.
HAMLET â New Prairieâs defensive pressure proved much too much for the Bobcats, and Oregon-Davis lost its weather-rescheduled Bi-County opener by a lopsided 89-38 margin at The Den Wednesday.
OD surrendered 16 turnovers in the first quarter for 19 New Prairie points as the Cougars opened up a 25-6 advantage heading into the second frame. All total, the opportunistic visitors capitalized on 32 turnovers by the Bobcats for 32 points en route to the win, advancing to face Bremen in the semifinals Friday at LaVille at 6:30 p.m.
PLYMOUTH â St. Michael School in Plymouth will hold a Italian dinner fundraiser Jan. 21. The night will include food prepared by Josiah Klinedinst, owner of Oh Mamma's Italian Deli. There will also be a silent and live auction. Tickets are $25 for two adults or $15 for one adult. Children between the ages of five and 12 will be admitted for $6. Tickets can be purchased until Jan. 13 from the school office, or by contacting Lynndi Rader, 574-952-3606 or Jennifer Houin, 574-930-1403.

PLYMOUTH â The Marshall County Health Department announced another change to immunization eligibility requirements Tuesday afternoon.
Under the new Indiana state guidelines effective Feb. 1, only those without medical insurance may be vaccinated at their local health department. Insured individuals (including children) must receive vaccinations from their normal physician.
These changes were originally slated to take place last summer, but were postponed until now.

ST. LOUIS â Plymouth grad Bill Finkbinerâs road from PHS to feature film has been a long and eventful one â and one he almost didnât take.
âFor me it all started in (teacher) Kathy Richterâs speech class,â said Bill from his home in St. Louis. âWe had done a couple of speeches for class and she told me I should join the speech team. I had never really considered that and I told her to give me three reasons why I should. She said, âyouâre good, youâll win and... youâll win.ââ
BOURBON â After a mere one-point decision to Triton Saturday, Culver head coach Kyle Elliott expected his players to start with some confidence Tuesday.
Instead, Culver put up just two points in the first quarter as the Class A No. 7 Trojans jumped out to an 8-2 lead at the break. The two teams went back and forth the rest of the night, but Culver was never able to get out in front, and Triton polished off 12 of 17 freebies in the final frame as the Cavs tried to stretch the clock, handing the challengers a 46-33 loss in a boys Bi-County opener at The Trojan Trench.
BOURBON â Sometimes itâs better to be wrong.
Triton head coach Adam Heckaman had a presentiment before his girlsâ Bi-County opener with Culver Tuesday that his girls may not have been focused on the task at hand.
The Class A No. 6 Lady Trojans coughed up 15 first half turnovers to surrender a 10-point lead at the intermission, and the defending tourney champion Lady Cavaliers held off their hosts down the stretch for a 45-40 win at The Trojan Trench.
Culver advances to play LaVille in the late semifinal at LaVille Thursday night at 8 p.m.
