Dr. Kenneth W. Reber

ZIONSVILLE — Dr. Kenneth W. Reber, former State Director of Indiana Rehabilitation Services and former Superintendent of Schools in Plymouth, passed away Dec. 18, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospice. Dr. Reber was born Sept. 5, 1918 in Berrien Co., St. Joseph, Mich., the son of L. Benjamin and Tina Reber.
Man brings drugs to meeting with probation officer
PLYMOUTH — A Nappanee man was jailed Dec. 21 after he allegedly brought synthetic marijuana and paraphernalia to a meeting with his probation officer.
The Marshall County Probation office called in a report at 2:50 p.m. that David Skaggs, 28, Nappanne had come to meet with his probation officer and he had paraphernalia.
They also found what they believed to be synthetic marijuana.
Skaggs was placed under arrest and transported to Marshall County Jail.
Natural causes ruled cause of death for trucker
INDIANAPOLIS — NorthWood junior forward Morgan Olson was selected as the District 1 girls IBCA Subway Player of the Week for her performances during the week of Dec. 17-22.
She was joined by a pair of players from Evansville Bosse in junior Perry Fairrow and senior Janisha Lindsey, Elkhart Memorial senior Markese McGuire, Park Tudor junior Trevon Bluiett and Indianapolis Marshall junior Dae’Shanique King as recipients in the awards program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
Culver Community senior Matt Hurford pinned his way through the 182-pound bracket at the Rochester Wrestling Invitational Saturday to earn his fourth straight championship at the invite.
John Glenn senior forward Katie Dreessen registered a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while putting in a strong defensive performance to help Glenn win its 10th straight against Westville on Senior Night.
ROCHESTER — Culver Community certainly had the top-notch wrestlers at Saturday’s John McKee Invitational.
Problem is, there weren’t enough of them.
Usually, if a team advances 80 percent of its wrestlers to the finals of a 16-team tournament, that team would dominate the rest of the field.
But if that team only has five guys to start with, well…

CMA, Bremen compete at IHSWCA State Dual Meet Championships
Culver Military placed fourth in the AA standings, and Bremen finished sixth in the Class A field at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association’s first annual State Dual Meet Championships Saturday.
The Eagles started the day with a stunning 36-30 win over Jimtown before falling to eventual Class AA runner-up Evansville Memorial in a narrow 39-32 decision in the semifinals and losing to Danville 55-9 in the third-place match.

DONALDSON — A service of Lessons and Carols with the choir of Ancilla Domini will begin at 10:00 p.m. EST, Christmas Eve in the Ancilla Domini Chapel, PHJC Ministry Center. The Mass of the Nativity of the Lord will start at 10:30 p.m. Rev. James Zemelko will be the celebrant.
Narrators for the Lessons and Carols will be Sr. Judith Diltz and Rev. David Hogsett.

SEBRING, Fla. — Harry J. Olson, age 94, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 in Sebring, Fla. He was born in Hammond City on Oct. 23, 1918 to Harry E. and Gusta Mae (Cobler) Olson. He was an A/C Repairman; of the Presbyterian Faith; served in the U.S. Navy during WW II; Member of the American Legion Post 27 and the Masonic Lodge #149 in Plymouth; He was an avid fisherman and a trap and skeet shooter; He was a resident of Sebring, Fla. since 1980 coming from Plymouth.
Betty Jane Crise

CULVER — Betty Jane Crise, 94, of Culver died Dec. 18, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
She is survived by daughters, Dawn E. Crise of Plymouth, Candace L. Crise of Plymouth; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
