PERU â€” It may have been cold and rainy outside at Peru last night, but the Pilgrims had no trouble setting the nets on fire inside Tig-Arena in a 57-37 victory against the Tigers.
Plymouth came out of the gate running.
Mack Mercer pushed the opening tip to Ike Kastner, who hit Joe Knapp in stride for the gameâ€™s first two points, sparking a 10-0 run over the first two minutes of the game. Plymouth scored on its first four possessions, highlighted by a pair of old-style 3-point plays from Mercer.
BOURBON â€” It was a rough shooting night at the Trojan Trench Friday night, but the Lady Triton Trojans were able to fight through in a 60-39 win over Bremen.
Triton shot 23.7 percentage from the field in the first half, and Bremen was able to keep it close. At the end of the first half Triton led 26-17.
Lady Trojans coach Adam Heckaman talked about his teamâ€™s poor start and how they were able to get things going in the second half.
WALKERTON â€” John Glenn girls basketball head coach Kyle Amor wanted to see aggressive play from his charges Friday.
The Lady Falcons delivered.
Buoyed by a 13-2 game-opening run, sticky on-the-ball defense, and 16 offensive boards, Glenn rolled to its sixth straight victory with a 53-30 Northern State Conference rout of visiting Jimtown at The Aerie Friday.
BOURBON â€” The Triton High School Athletic Hall of Fame 2013 class will include four athletes, one coach and two contributors, the schoolâ€™s athletic department announced recently.
Athletes Jamie Erwin, Jack Carpenter, Curt Kreft and Julie Lozier will be honored alongside former girls basketball coach Mark Heeter and contributors William Moriarity and Kenneth Keller during halftime of the Triton versus Culver boys basketball game in a boys/girls doubleheader Jan. 11. Tipoff for the varsity girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Lady Lancers pull away in 4th
LaVille used a strong fourth quarter to turn a one-point game at the end of three quarters into a 65-51 win over New Prairie in Northern State Conference girls basketball action at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Friday.
Kelsey Gurtner scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Lancers. Hannah Herbster chipped in 19 points for LaVille, and McKenzie Leed added 12 points.
LaVille heads to Bethany Christian Monday.
