CULVER — Culver Girls Academy leading scorer Andrijana Cvitkovic recorded just a single solitary basket in the opening nine minutes Wednesday.
The rest of the contest told an entirely different tale.
The 6-foot-3 senior post scored 22 of her game-high 24 points over the final three quarters, and also grabbed six rebounds, swatted four shots, and swiped three steals to lead the Eagles to a 54-43 girls basketball win over cross-town rival Culver Community at John R. Nelson Gymnasium.
HAMLET — Oregon-Davis added South Bend Riley to its schedule this year to give the Bobcats a challenge.
And that’s exactly what the Wildcats did.
Riley’s defensive pressure generated 35 OD turnovers, while the Wildcats showed balance on the offensive end with five players contributing meaningful points production. The visitors put the game away early, jumping out to a 30-point cushion in the first half en route to a 71-35 victory over host Oregon-Davis at The Den Wednesday night.
HAMLET — Before the Bobcats tipped off against Riley Wednesday, Oregon-Davis paid tribute to one of the program’s fondest memories in a special pre-game ceremony at The Den.
The school hung the jerseys of Todd Blair and Scott Blum, and Blum — the program’s career scoring record-holder — delivered a few words as OD commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Bobcats’ 1988 sectional championship season.
