BREMEN — Lula Blanche Odiorne, 89, of Bremen passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Bremen Health Care Center with all of her family by her side. She was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Bremen to Arthur and Isabelle (Nusbaum) Forsythe. She married Albert L. Odiorne May 4, 1945; he passed in July of 2011.
Blanche graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 1942. She worked as a beautician for many years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Plymouth. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going for walks and gardening.

ARGOS — Leonard “Sam” Cook, 79, of Argos died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 3:08 p.m., at Community Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cook; their daughters, Pamela (Jay) Evans of Tennessee, Robin Dollar of Texas, and Tara (Paul) Fouriner of Vermont; their sons, Randy (Mandy) Cook of Anderson and Todd Tillis of Anderson; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Bertha Fouche of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brothers, Kenny (Wanda) Cook of Illinois and Glenden (Evelyn) Cook of Illinois.

PLYMOUTH — Jennifer Ann (Campiti) Stayton, 63, a resident of Plymouth, passed away in her home at 1:31 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
Born in Fort Wayne April 17, 1949, Jennifer was the daughter of Walter J. and Margaret L. (Botruff) Snider. She graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1967 and attended IUPU of Fort Wayne majoring in biological sciences.
Previously married to Charley Campiti, and her present husband, John L. Stayton, survives her death.

Name released of subject wanted in pursuit

On December 11, 2012 at 10:15, Marshall County Deputies attempted to serve a Fulton County felony warrant on William R. Newman. William Newman led Marshall County Deputies in a vehicle pursuit that ended in the area of 4th and Rose road. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Marshall County Deputies with the assistance the Indiana State Police, Walkerton PD, Starke County Deputies, and Laporte County Deputies, set up a perimeter and began tracking the suspect with the assistance of the Marshall County K9 and an ISP K9. At this time, the suspect has not been located.

Man found dead at truck stop

PLYMOUTH —A man was found dead at the Pilot gas station and truck stop on 9A Road off of U.S. 30 Tuesday.
County coroner Bill Cleavenger said that someone at the company noticed that a Western Express truck parked behind the building had not moved in three days. They called 911, and Cleavenger and the Plymouth Fire Department responded to the location to investigate around 10 a.m.
Cleavenger said the deceased male is in his 60s. His name is not being released until family is notified. More details are expected later in the day Tuesday.

Culver Wings relocates alongside other new businesses on SR 10

Culver residents have likely noticed the large "Culver Pizza" sign on State Road 10 at the former site of the Ten Spot restaurant and bar. They may or may not have realized the new restaurant there is, first of all, not exactly a "new' restaurant at all, and secondly, now open (as of last Wednesday) for business.

Eagles handle New Prairie at home

CULVER — At the tail end of last season, the Culver Academies swim teams spoiled an undefeated New Prairie record. But more than avoiding any potential reprisals for that loss, Monday’s dual meet at the Academies was more about a gut check than anything else.
Approaching the winter break after a grueling front end of the season and with all the fatigue, anticipation of the holidays and illness entailed by this time of year, new Culver head swim coach Cali Girard simply wanted to see her swimmers compete.

Slugger’s Bullpen to hold open house

PLYMOUTH — For a third straight year area baseball players will get a chance to sharpen their game over the winter months.
Post 27 and the Diamond Spyders have opened the “Sluggers Bullpen” for use in Plymouth. The facility is located in the back of the Young’s TV and Appliance building on Jefferson Street.
This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Slugger’s Bullpen invites the public in for a special open house. You can go and see first-hand the programs and facilities available to players of any skill level or age.

Church is new PHS head softball coach

PLYMOUTH — Haley Church has been named as the new varsity softball coach at Plymouth High School. Church replaces Ed Kelso, who had been the head coach at Plymouth the previous seven seasons.
