Culver prepares for (hoped-for) centennial voyage to Presidential Inaugural

December 1, 2012

Of course it's a matter of enormous significance each time Culver Academies' Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes prepare to march in the U.S. Presidential inaugural -- but this coming inaugural parade is especially meaningful, as it marks 100 years of Culver's participation in the event. And preparations are already underway.

Pilgrims start strong in win at Rochester

December 1, 2012

ROCHESTER — It was the same stuff on a different day for the Plymouth Pilgrim basketball team Friday night at Rochester. A smothering defense and a heavy dose of Mack Mercer and Joe Knapp led the Pilgrims to a 71-51 victory over the Zebras.
Plymouth opened the game with a hot shooting hand.
The Pilgrims converted on four of their first five possessions — the first coming off a long tip by Mercer to Knapp on the tip-off — to break out on an 8-0 run.

Lancers coast at CMA, 48-27

December 1, 2012

CULVER — The second quarter has been a real Achilles heel for Culver Academy so far this season.
The Eagles lost their opener after falling behind in the second quarter against Indianapolis Homeschool last week. And on Friday night, visiting LaVille held them to two points on 1-of-9 shooting in the second frame to grab a 20-point halftime cushion.
CMA played dead even with the Lancers in the second half, but it was already moot as LaVille handed the Eagles a 48-27 loss at Fleet Gymnasium.

Carter cues Argos win over Winamac

December 1, 2012

Carter had an all around game with 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, all while shooting 7-of-8 from both the field and the line. When the Warriors tried to make a push late, Carter came up big, making a couple of huge rebounds in the last minute of the game while hitting 3 of 4 from the line to help seal the win, 62-54 at home at Phil Weybright Gymnasium Friday.
