LAKEVILLE — It took about a quarter for the Lady Lancers to shake off the cobwebs in their season-opener with Mishawaka Marian.
Struggling with turnovers and some shaky shooting early, LaVille spotted the visiting Lady Knights a 14-0 lead. When the Lancers finally got rolling midway through the second frame, it was already too late, and the home team fell 44-34 Tuesday night at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
LAKEVILLE — The LaVille girls soccer team was awarded a league-high six All-Northern State Conference picks after the Lady Lancers’ repeat NSC championship this fall.
Heather Roeder and Grace Ingle were named All-NSC forwards, Nina Zeiger was nominated in the midfield, Danielle Romano and Breanna Dejarnett were named in the backfield, and Kyleigh Breden was named all-conference in goal for LaVille, which finished its NSC slate at 5-1.
NEW CARLISLE — The picks are in for the 2012 All-Northern State Conference volleyball team.
New Prairie tops the list with two first team selections and an honorable mention nomination following an undefeated 7-0 conference season. Knox, which finished second in the conference at 6-1, Bremen, which placed third with a 5-2 record, and Jimtown, which closed NSC play at 3-4 in fourth in the final team standings, all received two first team and one honorable mention pick.
