LAKEVILLE — Michael S. Boits, 54, of Lakeville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at home surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1958 in South Bend to Richard and Margaret (Flack) Boits.

PLYMOUTH — Raymond E. Ritter, 83, of Plymouth died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at 3 a.m., at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center in Donaldson.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Cole of Plymouth; his sons, Lonnie (Patty) Ritter of Plymouth and Don (Sandy) Ritter of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison Street, Plymouth.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home.

AKRON — Betty Drusilla Morgan, 85, of Akron died at 5:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
She was born Jan. 13, 1927 in Jacksonville, Fla. to John and Drusilla (Braddock) Ivey.
May 6, 1945 in Jacksonville, Fla., she married Dr. Lloyd A. Morgan; he preceded April 27, 2003.

Plymouth competes at CC NLCs

ELKHART — Tired runners don’t make for good conference cross country results.
After four meets in the space of eight days culminating with Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference championships at Ox Bow Park, Plymouth coach Jami Holm can tell her team needs a break.
“I told them after the meet, I’m looking forward to the 10 days we’ve got with them before the sectionals, more so for resting than training,” said Holm following Saturday’s NLC tournament. “I want them to rest, they need the rest.”

Argos boys, girls both clinch titles in NISC doubleheader

ARGOS — The Northern Indiana Soccer Conference (NISC) was formed in 1969 to foster the growth of high school soccer, then only six years old in Indiana. Saturday night, two of the charter members of the conference, Argos and Bethany Christian, met in a boys and girls varsity doubleheader for the conference titles.

The boys match featured pair of Class A ranked teams, with Bethany at No. 6 and Argos at No. 19. The season finale was also the conference title game as both teams came in with unblemished 4-0 NISC marks.

Lady Pilgrims win Adams Tourney
Plymouth’s volleyball team won the championship at the South Bend Adams Tournament over the weekend with a trio of two-game wins over Riley (25-19, 25-15), Mishawaka and host Adams (25-15, 25-18).
Amber Redinger finished the tourney with 19 kills and six assists, while Marissa German recorded 18 kills, four aces and 10 digs, Haley Harrell set 55 assists and served four aces, and Mikayla German finished with 22 digs and four aces.
Carly Baker led the team in blocking with nine stuffs, while Emily Eveland finished with four aces.
