PLYMOUTH — Gloria Jean Scarborough, 72, of Plymouth died Sept. 28, 2012 at 11:05 a.m. at her residence. She had been in declining health for several months.
She was born April 4, 1940 in Knox to Forrest and Geraldine (Zellers) White. She has lived in Plymouth the last seven years, coming from Grovertown.
She married David Scarborough Jr. March 17, 1956 in Grovertown; he preceded April 18, 1998.
She was a housewife/homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Argos.

CULVER — Benjamin V. Mevis, 76, of Culver, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.
He was born June 16, 1936 in Plymouth to the late Harry and Nora (Stuck) Mevis. Ben served his country in the Nike Missile Division of the Army and guarded skies over Detroit, Mich. He was later employed at the Burr Oak Hardware for five years and at Transit Mix for 33 1/2 years as a mechanic and fabricator. Later, he enjoyed doing small engine repair at home. Ben is a member of Union Church of the Brethren in Plymouth.

CULVER — Alvin Lee Hite, 65, of Culver, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Mishawaka. His death followed an inspiring fight against leukemia.
Alvin was born in Plymouth Jan. 18, 1947, the sixth of 11 children to David Loyal and Mary Marguerite (Hoeszle) Hite. He first attended West Township schools and then Plymouth in the class of 1966.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Aug. 20, 1968.

CULVER — Charlotte R. Brandt, 69, of Culver died Sept. 28, 2012 at 10 p.m. at Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso.
She is survived by her brother, Arnold (Nancy) Brandt of Winamac.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

PLYMOUTH — Raymond E. Ritter, 83, of Plymouth died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at 3 a.m., at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center in Donaldson.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Cole of Plymouth; his sons, Lonnie (Patty) Ritter of Plymouth and Don (Sandy) Ritter of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison Street, Plymouth.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 13, 1927 in Jacksonville, Fla. to John and Drusilla (Braddock) Ivey.
May 6, 1945 in Jacksonville, Fla., she married Dr. Lloyd A. Morgan; he preceded April 27, 2003.
