PLYMOUTH â€” The annual Bridal Fair sponsored by Treatâ€™s Bridal Shoppe and Squire Shop is this Saturday at Christosâ€™ Banquet Center in Plymouth.
â€śWe have a lot of newness in our vendors (this year),â€ť said Gary Treat, owner. â€śThere are a lot of new (trends) in bridal styles, and we will show those, as well as some prom styles.â€ť
PLYMOUTH â€” This winter, try your hand at whipping up some proscuitto-wrapped asparagus or roasted salmon in one of Fitness Forumâ€™s new cooking classes at the LifePlex. Held once a month beginning in January, these classes focus on creating delicious food that is also healthy. Chef Brad Hindsley, of Spire Catering and Event Planning in LaPorte, will join forces with Phyllis Wille, owner of the New Kitchen Store in Walkerton, to demonstrate easy skills that will help class participants create their own gourmet masterpieces.
PLYMOUTH â€” The first baby to be born this year at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth was Peyton Burdick, who was born at 10:21 a.m. New Yearâ€™s Day.
She weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces. Her parents, Christine and Jeff Burdick of Walkerton, said that Peyton was originally due on Christmas Eve.
At the time, they didnâ€™t put much thought into Peyton being the first baby of the new year.

PLYMOUTH â€” John F. Botset, 72, Plymouth, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Dixon; daughter: Dawna (Blane) Embree of Plymouth; two sons: John W. (Sue) Botset of Rochester and Todd A. (Carrie) Botset of Walkerton, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

GILMAN, Ill. â€”Â Arthur R. Haug Jr., 74, of Gilman, Ill., formerly of Plymouth, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 in Watseka, Ill. Mr. Haug was born in Chicago Oct. 5, 1937 to Arthur and Florence (Goze) Haug. At an early age, his family moved to Plymouth from Chicago. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years. He married Betty Miller Oct. 12, 1958 in Donaldson and together they raised two children.

ARGOS â€”Â Lynda Lee (Snyder) Bennett, 51, of 17607 Kenilworth Road, Argos, died Jan. 1, 2012 at 5:58 p.m. at Indiana University Health â€” Goshen Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1960 in Plymouth to Marvin L. and Nyla J. (Irwin) Snyder. She has lived in the Argos community all of her life.
Aug. 5, 2000 in Plymouth, she married LeeRoy C. Bennett.
She was a homemaker and Grandma. She attended the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos, and was a graduate of Argos High School class of 1979.

LAKEVILLE â€”Â Helen A. Gillis, 95, of Lakeville died Jan. 3, 2012.
She is survived by five grandchildren; sons-in-law, Dale Beeman and William Newcomb; and foster son, Dale Craft.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 in the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, 25075 Stanton Road, North Liberty. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the church and one hour prior Saturday.
Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is handling the arrangements.

WALKERTON â€” With little more than three weeks remaining until state tournament time, John Glenn head coach Tim White believes his wrestlers are â€śstarting to put things together.â€ť
On Thursday, they put together a total of nine pinfall victories to hand visiting North Judson-San Pierre a dominant 64-15 loss at home at The Aerie.
Big 4th earns Bremen 4th straight
Bremen put up an eye-popping 23 points in the fourth quarter to break a 24-all tie and beat Bethany Christian 47-38 on the road Thursday.
Kailee Feldman put up a game-high 17 points, while fellow senior Jenna Pfeiffer finished with 15 in the Lady Lions win, their fourth straight.
Bethany was led by 13 and 11 points, respectively from Hanna Hochstetler and Gina Gautsche.
Bremen moves to an even 6-6 on the season and will return to Northern State Conference play as the Lions host LaVille Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
