WARNING: Heat advisory for Marshall County

September 2, 2011

The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Friday. Temperature highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 90's across the area with heat index topping out in the 100 to 105 degree range.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Stay out of the sun as much as possible, take frequent breaks if you must be outside, drink plenty of water, and know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Rockies drop NLC contest to Goshen

September 2, 2011

PLYMOUTH — An unwanted theme has been developing for the Rockies so far this season.
They play solidly for most of a game but wind up giving up goals in spurts during short breakdowns that ultimately cost them the game.
Such was the case Thursday as Plymouth lost a 2-0 Northern Lakes Conference decision to visiting Goshen on the Rockies’ home pitch at Kindt Soccerplex.

Fall robs Uceny of chance to win world championship

September 2, 2011

It’s not Morgan Uceny’s loss in her world championship race that had folks around the Plymouth area all upset Thursday morning.
It’s knowing that she never got a chance to win.
Uceny, a 2003 Plymouth High School graduate, became entangled with another runner and fell to the ground with 1½ laps remaining in the women’s 1500-meter final at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
She got up and eventually finished a distant 10th, jogging across the finish line.
