Senter names top priorities for reelection
PLYMOUTH â€” Incumbent mayoral candidate Mark Senter released the following main topics for reelection.
Members of Culver Community Schoolsâ€™ board of trustees received an update on the iPad program for Middle and High School students at their Monday night meeting. In May, the trustees approved a contract with Apple for $150,000 to supply each student grades 7 through 12 with an iPad for use as a supplemental teaching tool. Albert Hanselman, administrator, introduced Cameron Turney to give the board members her unbiased opinion of the iPad.
BREMEN â€” This yearâ€™s Northern State Conference race was a fight to the finish.
The NSC tennis title boiled down to the last match of the tournament as Triton 2 doubles tandem Wil Rettinger and Jackson Downing handed Knoxâ€™s Joe Clabaugh and Cody Fletcher a split set, 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-2 defeat under the lights at DeSantis Courts in Bremen.
With a possible three-way tie hanging in the balance, the 2 doubles win clinched Triton a second-place finish at the tourney behind meet champion Bremen, good enough to cement the Trojans their first-ever Northern State Conference tennis title outright.
INDIANAPOLIS â€” The IHSAA has announced the tournament pairings and times for the 45th Annual Boys State Tennis Tournament and the pairings for the first two-class state soccer tournaments for both boys and girls with the times to be determined by the host schools later this week.
A record-high field of 292 boys teams and 253 girls teams are entered as the 18th Annual IHSAA Soccer State Tournaments are set to begin next Monday and run through next Saturday, Oct. 8, while 303 teams around the state will begin vying for the crown in the boys tennis series starting this Wednesday.
LaVille rallies past Adams
LaVille rallied back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat visiting Adams 2-1 at home at Newton Park Monday.
Nina Zeiger scored the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 45th minute, and Jesse Feitzâ€™s solo goal in the 60th minute proved to be the golden goal for the Lady Lancers.
Abbie McBride made six saves in goal to preserve the win for LaVille.
