It's been hard for Culverites to miss signs of some of the major construction projects underway at Culver Academies lately, many of which represent significant changes and enhancements not only to the campus, but in a broader sense, to the entire community.

PLYMOUTH âOn the eve of the tenth anniversary of the September 11 tragedy, members and friends of the Plymouth Phi Delta Kappa joined with the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders to honor and remember those serving in the military now and those that have been lost, along with the EMS, firefighters, and police everywhere. The event began at the Phi Delta Kappa facility on W. Harrison Street with a processional of riders through the city, a solemn ceremony at Oakhill Cemetery and a fundraiser.

PLYMOUTH â Three young boys, full of life, will always remind Katie Benedict Friedman of the events of 9/11.
Katie (Culver Community High School 1991 grad) and her husband, Seth, decided to start a family soon after the World Trade Centers toppled a few short miles from their place of work in downtown New York City.
âI really think that it had to do with the attacks,â said Katie, observing the antics of her three sons, Nathan, 8, Isaac, 6, and Elijah, 4. âLife is short.â
BREMEN â Bremen knew the Northern State Conference Girls Golf Meet would likely come down to a battle with New Prairie.
Unfortunately for the Lions, the middle of their lineup couldnât quite put their best rounds together, and the Cougars ran away with the NSC championship with 400 points to Bremenâs 425 at Sprig OâMint Golf Course Saturday.
John Glenn golfers struggled on the front nine to finish third with a 450, meanwhile, as Triton turned in a 461 for fourth, LaVille was fifth with a 537, and Knox was sixth with a 583 at the meet.
PLYMOUTH â Itâs not often you get a lift from one of your opponents.
Nevertheless, thatâs exactly what happened to Plymouth at the Northern Lakes Conference Girls Golf Meet Saturday, as the Lady Pilgrims finished second with a 363 behind NLC champ Warsawâs 354, and Northridge beat out Wawasee to give Plymouth sole possession of second place in the final conference standings.
âI thanked the Northridge coach. I said âMan, we appreciate it.â Our girls needed to pick it up today, and they realized that,â said Plymouth head coach Jack Kinney.
Bremen golfer Laura Davis watches her shot during Northern State Conference play Saturday.
Davis finished second overall at the meet with a 98 to earn King's Jewelry Female Athlete of the Week status.
Plymouthâs Sam Stevens runs the ball against Northridge Friday.
Stevens earned this week's Teachers Credit Union Male Athlete of the Week honors as he gained 165 yards and rushed for two touchdowns in a 37-13 Northern Lakes Conference defeat of the Raiders.
