PLYMOUTH — “In all the years I’ve been looking at budgets these are the best I’ve ever seen.”
Most of the Marshall County Council could echo the sentiments expressed by President of the Council Matt Hassel as it concluded the second day of budget hearings for the coming year. The reason for the feeling was simple.
“These were serious, bare bones budgets,” said Hassel. “I think it proves that all our department heads are aware of the kind of economy we still face and are willing to work with us to get done what we have to get done.”
PLYMOUTH — It’s unclear what started the “gas war” among several Plymouth gasoline stations Tuesday; but local motorists wasted no time in getting to the pumps.
The Murphy station just off of U.S. 30 apparently was the first to drop its price to $3.19 a gallon. As the word spread, others stations starting matching that price and eventually going lower.
PLYMOUTH — Alex Orellana scored a hat trick, and Daniel Smith struck twice for Plymouth in a home win over visiting Whitko Tuesday.
Smith got the Rockies rolling with a goal on an Evan Glaub assist in the first minute, and Orellana scored in the second minute to put Plymouth up early. Orellana struck again in the 13th and 23rd minutes, while Smith scored his second goal in the 26th minute as a total of five different Plymouth players found the net in the win.
