LAPORTE — Plymouth’s season-long goal thus far has been to break 400 for 18 holes. For Tuesday’s New Prairie Invitational head coach Jack Kinney decided, heck, why not break 380?
The Lady Pilgrims reached that goal with room to spare, turning in a 376 to nose out Northern Lakes Conference foe NorthWood by two strokes and finish runner-up at the tourney, placing second behind No. 6-ranked Chesterton’s record-breaking team tally of 311 at Legacy Hills in LaPorte.
MUNCIE — The Indiana Annihilators 18U travel softball team, based in Rochester, finished third in the 2011 National Softball Association B North 18U World Series July 25-28 in Muncie. The team is comprised of players from Plymouth, Rochester, Caston, North Miami, Peru and Winamac.
The Annihilators started the series by placing first in the Oufield Accuracy and Touch-em All Race and placed high enough in the Round the Horn event to win the Overall Skills competition. Alanie Sroufe from Rochester was named Miss NSA for the 18U division.
