Oliver's 2nd annual Car Show BBQ a success

July 18, 2011

PLYMOUTH — The sweltering sun didn’t seem to deter either car buffs or barbecue fans Saturday as a crowd gathered behind Oliver Ford.
Attendees were there to play in cornhole tournaments, check out the endless rows of impressively polished cars, and enjoy some summer barbecue. Proceeds from the day’s event went to benefit St. Michael’s school.
“We give to all of the schools in our community, and this event is for St. Michael’s,” said Jennifer Houin.

Marshall County schools assess ISTEP results

July 18, 2011

LAKEVILLE — Despite the fact that the ISTEP (Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress) 2011 scores for the Union-North United School Corporation went up, administrators are not satisfied with the results. Corporation–wide, the scores from testing of grades 3-8 went from 70.8 percent passing to 72.4 percent in the combined English and math data.
A long-range plan to raise student achievement that has been in the works for several weeks was presented to the school board as a first draft at the last board meeting.
