PLYMOUTH — City council members voted this week to enter into an agreement with DC Tech Solutions, LLC, a Plymouth company.
DC Tech will provide high-speed Internet service to city departments in exchange for being allowed to place its equipment on Plymouth’s two water towers and on top of the fire department. In addition, DC Tech will supply free wireless Internet service to the downtown area, a $5,000 value.
“There aren’t many towns our size offering free wireless downtown,” said councilman Mark Neidig during the meeting. “For tourism, and for downtown residents, it’s a good asset.”
PLYMOUTH — If you are a golfer with some skills, you could be driving a new car home courtesy of the area’s Youth For Christ ministry.
YFC will hold its annual golf outing fundraiser at the Plymouth Country Club Thursday, June 23 — and thanks to some help from local businesses, two lucky golfers could have a new ride home.
“Somebody is definitely going to be driving a car home courtesy of the Auto Park,” said Bob Beck, leader of YFC. “Auto Park will give away a car for the golfer that is closest to the pin. Oliver Ford will be giving away a truck for a golfer who hits a hole-in-one.”
PLYMOUTH —Eleven-year-old Destiny Cartwright’s house was a hub of excitement Wednesday afternoon, as family and friends waited anxiously to witness the completion of a project close to their hearts.
At 2 p.m., Destiny would be able to see her new bedroom, built by the Plymouth Kiwanis and decorated by the Make-A-Wish foundation.
“This was her first wish, to have this done,” said local Make-A-Wish volunteer Lori Parrish, of Argos.
If Lake Maxinkuckee looks especially picturesque this weekend due to a swath of graceful sails on its waters, that's because Culver is hosting the 2011 C Scow National Championship Regatta from June 17 through 19. And one of the people behind the event, Culver's own Ed Furry, says that's good news for the whole community -- and he hopes the whole community will take part in the festivities.
"We'll probably have 60 or 70 boats, each with a two or three-person crew," he says. "We'll be bringing a few hundred people to Culver to support the restaurants and businesses."
PLYMOUTH — John Scott assumed it was just a weather delay.
The Plymouth Post 27 announcer and assistant coach was following the team’s game at Logansport Post 60/418 online last Friday when the feed stopped. But what Scott thought was only bad weather turned out to be something far worse.
