PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth man is dead after shooting himself in the head in the yard of his home on Union Road Monday afternoon. Police were called to the scene at 1:40 p.m. when a resident from the 5,000 block of Union Road called saying her neighbor was at her home, with blood on her, and was saying that her husband had a gun. When officers arrived at the scene John Nemeth came outside the home with a handgun, and while standing in the front yard, shot himself. Walkerton EMS transported him to Memorial Hospital, South Bend where he was pronounced dead.
Culver’s Relay for Life will return for a fourth year, and organizers -- adult and student alike -- are hoping to continue the momentum from the first three events, which surpassed many expectations to raise more than $100,000 each year and place Culver on the map as one of the few school-hosted locations for the cancer-fighting event in the entire country. The success of past Relays has also drawn attention for the fact that much of the organizing, planning, and execution of the event is student-led.

BOURBON — With a freshman inside the circle, Triton’s veteran squad needed to make plays behind her.
Instead, the Lady Trojans gave up nine errors in the drizzling wet conditions at their home field, and Rochester batters capitalized off 14 hits and nine bases on balls to rout their hosts 21-3 in five innings in the Zebras’ season opener Monday.
“We’ve got a freshman kid pitching and I understand that, so we have to play some defense behind her, and I thought our defense was not very good tonight,” said Triton head softball coach Steve McBride.
