DONALDSON — Registrations are now being taken at the Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center for the Men's Lenten Retreat titled, “Sermon on the Mount – To Live Anew, To Live for Others.”
The Sermon on the Mount offers a vision of life that offers great hope and great challenges to popular culture. What are the gifts and challenges to my life and my family in this vision that calls me to live no longer for myself but to gradually live for others?

Honoring Culver's state champion

Indiana state heavyweight wrestling champion Jeremiah Harvey, a student at Culver Community High School, was honored twice recently in Culver thanks to the efforts of Culver’s VFW Post 6919.

Shamrock Homes announces closure

PLYMOUTH — Official word was received Wednesday that a Plymouth manufacturer has shut their doors. After nearly 42 years in business, Shamrock Homes is calling it quits.
The business was first opened by Pat and Kay Flynn in 1969 and then transferred to their children Dan, Tom, Mike and Pat in the 1980s. Both Tom and Dan were currently running the company. Pat kept his interest in the company, but left for another position in July, 2009. Mike passed away in March of last year.

Cleveland honored by Plymouth PD, Council

PLYMOUTH — One of Plymouth’s finest was recognized for his service by the Plymouth Common Council Monday night — but it was a bittersweet moment for all.
“I suppose it’s nice to be recognized, but the outcome was certainly not what you would want,” said Plymouth Police Sergeant Gary Cleveland, who was honored by a commendation by Plymouth Chief of Police Jim Cox and by a proclamation by Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter.

PLYMOUTH — Robert C. White, Sr., 88, of Mansfield Street, Plymouth, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 12:32 p.m. at his home. 
He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Plymouth, to Roscoe R. and Florence (Copp) White. March 6, 1947, Robert and Etta I. Williams were married. Etta passed away Feb. 11, 1995.
Robert worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement. He belonged to SAL (Sons of the American Legion) and to the Plymouth VFW Auxiliary.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mary I. Miller, 95, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Born in Plymouth, Ind. Jan. 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Clyde H. and Jenny (French) Funk. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1934 and married Lloyd R. “Don” Miller, also from Plymouth, Sept. 7, 1935.
Mary was an excellent student, played violin in the school orchestra and as a teenager, helped as waitress in her parents’ restaurant.

PLYMOUTH — Allen Flosenzier, 49, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 8:34 a.m., in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following an illness.
Allen was born May 5, 1961 to Jean and Guy Flosenzier. He attended Plymouth Schools.
Allen and Jamie Fletcher were married Oct. 1, 1983 at Knox.

CULVER — Timothy Allen Brock, 52, of Plymouth, died at 6:07 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Hospice House, South Bend.
He was born to the late Janice (Howard) Collins and Eli Brock Jr. April 14, 1958 in South Bend. He was a bricklayer/carpenter.

ROCHESTER — Maurice A. Azbell, 82, of Rochester, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Woodlawn Hospital.  
He is survived by his wife Berdene; daughters, Trillia (Dennis) Gearhart and Mila Barts; sisters, Janet Ballinger of Rochester and Ruth Green of Rochester; brothers: Wendell Azbell of North Vernon, Merrill Azbell of North Manchester, and Darle Azbell of Peru; six grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. 

Culver, Glenn compete at CMA 3-way

CULVER — With the outdoor track season roughly a week away, John Glenn and Culver Community athletes got some experience under their belts at an indoor triangular meet at Culver Academies Wednesday.
While the meet may have featured some irregular distances and no team scores were kept, it afforded the Falcons and Cavaliers — whose teams don’t have the numbers to compete in some of the bigger meets of the indoor season — a chance to get out early and flex some competitive muscle.
