BLOOMINGTON â€” Plymouth High School graduate (2007) and Indiana University senior Meredith Barron will undoubtedly remember many special events from her four years at I.U., but the one scheduled for April 12 will more than likely be a standout.
Barron persuaded rapper Lil Wayne â€” real name Dewayne Carter â€” to perform at the collegeâ€™s Assembly Hall during the annual Little 500 activities in April.
â€śIâ€™ve been a fan of Lil Wayne for four or five years,â€ť Barron said. â€śMy friends have been talking about trying to get him to come to our campus for a long time. So, I decided to give it a try.â€ť

LAKEVILLE â€”Â Beverly J. Goebel, 82, of Lakeville, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (John) Laureys of New Carlisle; son, David (Susan) Goebel of Plymouth; and a brother, Ron Goss of Mich.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to services Saturday, March 26 at Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St. Lakeville.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at St. Paulâ€™s Lutheran Cemetery, Woodland.

TIPPECANOE â€” Stella L. Curtis, 67, of Tippecanoe, died at 4:52 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Rochester, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 29, 1943 in Hasting, Minn., to Lee and Edna (Tanney) Glasby. She lived in the Argos community for the last 35 years coming from Gary, Ind. and was a homemaker.
She married Robert Roy Curtis. He preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1987.
BOURBON â€” When the 101st IHSAA State Basketball Finals convene at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this weekend, only two of the eight teams will be making their first appearance.
