Culver Clem's Groundhog Day declaration

February 1, 2011

CULVER -- Due to the sad demise of Culver Chuck, whose career was calamitously concluded last year, Punxsutawney Phil, plenipotentiary of prognostication for predicting winter's end, has pronounced that Culver Clem will serve on a probationary period for our area.
Culver Clem has candidly cautioned that his career curve doesn't coincide with Chuck's but will call with caution his conclusions for this year.
Explaining that Daylight Savings Time has drastically dulled and disrupted his disposition, he duly noted that he would retreat to his den for six more weeks.

Plymouth’s Miller bursts onto MMA scene

February 1, 2011

PLYMOUTH — A mixed martial arts cage is hardly the place most people would describe as “an oasis”.
Being locked in a roughly 20-foot space with someone who wants to either beat or choke you unconscious or else wrench your joints out of socket hardly seems to fit the definition.
Nevertheless, that’s exactly how 19-year-old Plymouth native Ricky Miller described entering the cage for the first time, a 170-pound bout at the Century Center in South Bend December 11.
