PLYMOUTH — The third annual Dancing with the Stars extravaganza was held Saturday night at the Swan Lake Resort, netting more than $68,000 for a local organization.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Marshall County Neighbor-hood Center and the Five-Star program at Lincoln Junior High in Plymouth.
One of the organizers and Neighborhood Center Board President, Chad Barden, opened the program with the announcement that they had pledges of $55,000.
The public could vote for their favorite dance couples at $20 per vote prior to the event.

PLYMOUTH — Toby Ann Towns, 61, a longtime Plymouth resident, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Toby was born the only child of Herschel E. and Phyllis J. “Josephine” (Eaglebarger) Towns April 16, 1949 in Gary. Her father was principal of Lincoln Jr. High for many years and her mother was a member of Tri-Kappa and civic-minded. Toby enjoyed being a part of her parent’s lives and the family involvement in the community.

PLYMOUTH — William R. “Bill” Wagoner was born in Warsaw, May 29, 1952, to Roland and Bertha Wagoner. He grew up in Bourbon and was the youngest of six children. He passed away at home in Plymouth Feb. 3, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer.

Plymouth boys host 5-way with CMA, Bremen, Knox and Tippy Valley

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth held an impromptu invitational Monday.
With last week’s weather wreaking havoc on area schedules, Plymouth’s boys swim team found itself having to make up a snowed-out three-way meet with Bremen and Culver Military on top of another three-way with Knox and Tippecanoe Valley. The result was sometimes confusing, but the Pilgrims got it done, topping both Knox and Tippecanoe Valley 99-48-36 and splitting with winner CMA and third-place Bremen in their three-way 97-61-28.

Pilgrims face tough test in CGA as Rochester Sectional opens tonight

ROCHESTER — Plymouth will jump right into the fire as the Class 3A Rochester Sectional opens tonight at 7 p.m.
The three-peat defending champion Lady Pilgrims take on the arguable tournament favorites in Culver Girls Academy, and the Eagles are hoping for revenge after taking a 51-38 loss at the hands of Plymouth at last year’s tilt.

2011 Culver Lake Fest in the works, will 'honor our heroes'

summer! Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 15 through 17, the 28th annual “Culver Lake Fest” will “Honor Our Heroes.”
Mike Overmyer, Lake Fest Committee President, said, “We are very excited about this year’s theme, and we want to pay tribute to the heroes that live and have worked in our community and just say thanks for their service to our country.”

Monopoly Tournament Feb. 11 at PPL

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Public Library is hosting a Monopoly Tournament Friday, Feb. 11 for students in grades sixth through twelfth. There is no cost to attend. Prizes will be awarded and pizza, pop and snacks will be served. Register before Thursday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. in person at 201 N. Center St. or online at www.plymouth.lib.in.us.
The schedule is as follows:
10:15 to 10:45 — Sign in. (You must sign in by 10:45 a.m. to play.)
10:45 to 11:00 — Table assignments and rules explained
11:00 to 12:30 — Semi-finals
