The preliminary Marshall County 2010 Census figures are in.
Marshall County grew 4 percent during the last 10 years from 45,128 to 47,051.Â
Indiana grew at a 6.6 percent rate. Most of Indianaâs growth occurred in the central part of the state.
Hamilton and Hendricks counties were the fastest growing areas of the state.

PLYMOUTH â Itâs a becoming a tradition that nobody wants to end.
Several years ago the Plymouth High School theater class â tired of buying scripts that they eventually ended up re-writing anyway â decided to write their own play and put it on stage. Itâs something that has taken on a life of its own.
For the third year, the class presents a show theyâve written called âA World of Wordsâ Friday and Saturday at the PHS Auditorium. Show time each night is 7 p.m.

ROCHESTER â Mary Lois Doud, 87, of Rochester, died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at Life Care Center of Rochester.Â
She is survived by a son, James (Bonnie) Doud of Akron.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 and one hour prior to services Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Carroll âRickâ Conley

PLYMOUTH â Carroll R. âRickâ Conley, age 55, of Redwood Road, Plymouth, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at his home.
Rick was born Sept. 7, 1955, in Plymouth, to Austin and Carol (Long) Conley. He was a lifetime resident of Plymouth. Rick and the former Kathy Landrie were united in marriage June 21, 1997, in Plymouth, at the House of Prayer, where he was a member. A proud United States Marine, Rick served his country in Vietnam.Â
WARSAW â Poaolo Palmitessa is feeling the pressure.
After falling just shy of a state cut in second place in the 200-yard Individual Medley at last yearâs Warsaw Boys Swim Sectional, the Plymouth senior has just one more shot to make it out this week as the preliminary round of swim sectionals begins tonight.
âIâm feeling enormous pressure because I havenât been to state ever,â said Palmitessa. âItâs pretty nerve-wracking for me, but Iâm pretty excited, too.â
INDIANAPOLIS â If Damon Howe wants to win a state title, heâll have to do what no one else has yet been able to do this season.
And heâll have to do it three times.
PLYMOUTH â The 2010-11 All-Northern Lakes Conference boys basketball team has been announced, and Plymouth senior point guard Houston Hodges was named to the first team, while freshman Mack Mercer was given honorable mention in his first season with the Pilgrims. NorthWood seniors Michael Paul and Cameron Williams were also chosen for first team honors, while junior teammate Jakyah Qaiyim was named to the honorable mention list.
Warsawâs Doug Ogle was named NLC Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to a 6-1 conference record and their second-straight NLC title.

KNOX â Donald Ray Jones, 67, Knox, died Saturday, Feb. 12 at his residence.
He is survived by by his wife Nancy; sons, Michael Ray Jones of Walkerton and Billy Odell Jones of Plymouth; daughter, Vicki Sue Jones of North Judson; brothers: Leroy Jones, Bobby Jones, Roger Jones and Glendale Jones; sisters: Mildred Gephart, Shirley Jones, Pearl Fizzcell and Linda Pennock; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
P. Roger Hackett

PLYMOUTH â P. Roger Hackett ,age 66, of Berkley Street, Plymouth, passed away at 7:47 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Saint Vincentâs Carmel Hospital in Carmel.
Roger was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Plymouth, to Donald P. and Myrtle A. (Scott) Hackett.
Roger was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, and was the director of music at the church. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Roger and the former Pamela Mortimore were married in 1979. They have one daughter, Kelly Miller.

PLYMOUTH â The Plymouth School Board heard a report on the school corporationâs food service at last nightâs meeting.
Gloria Burnam, director of food service, presented an overview of the number of meals being served as well as mandates that will have to be incorporated into the food service with the passing of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The legislation was passed in December, 2010.
Burnam said the National Standards were updated after 15 years and the new compliances will have to be met in the school year 2012-2013.
