Culver School Board seeks new member

Water meter change out ongoing

PLYMOUTH — The City of Plymouth Water Department will continue for the next few months going door-to-door replacing the outdated water meters. Generally, meter change out takes 30 minutes or less. If this presents an inconvenience, customers are encouraged to make an appointment for the meter change out at the city office in person or by calling 574-936-2124.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Barbara Esther (Whan) Hughes died Tuesday, Jan. 25 2011 at Sophia’s Care House in Walnut Creek.
She is survived by daughters, Johanna Trickovic of Orinda, Calif. and Greta Berlin of Bar Sur Loup, France; son, Eric Hughes of Oakland; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

'Dancing with the Stars' event coming up

PLYMOUTH — Her career has been backstage at Plymouth High School, but she will be one of several taking center stage Saturday, Feb. 5 as part of the Neighborhood Center’s fundraiser “Dancing With the Stars” at Swan Lake Resort.
Jane Faulstich and her partner Patrick Pendexter will try to win the title by gaining your votes and contributions for the center. Faulstich — who teaches theatre at Plymouth High School — is drawing on her “vast” experience as a dancer for a good cause.

Raiders spoil Plymouth Senior Night

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s defense held Northridge 11 points under its average but continued its rough scoring streak without Marissa Green, and the Class 4A, ninth-ranked Lady Raiders spoiled Senior Night with a 39-25 victory at The Rock Thursday.
“Northridge is a really good team; you’ve got to give them a lot of credit,” said Plymouth head girls basketball coach Dave Cox. “They put a lot of pressure on us offensively, so we had a lot of trouble getting shots off. It’s one of those things, I think, giving them 39 points is OK; we’ve just got to score more than 25.”

Pilgrims compete at boys NLC swim prelims

ELKHART — Plymouth’s young squad finished sixth in both the 200 medley and 400 free relay and reached the consolation finals in six individual events against a tough Northern Lakes Conference field at the NLC prelims at Concord Thursday.
With just one senior and five sophomores on the Pilgrims swim team, head coach Leanne Senter knew it would be tough to compete for a share of the NLC crown and was happy just seeing the numerous personal- and season-bests her swimmers clocked.
