School was back in session for many schools this week, and it was back to a routine for not only the classroom but for extra-curriculars. PLYMOUTH – Plymouth City Attorney Nelson Chipman will have a chance to serve beyond the city limits in the coming year.
Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter’s office announced that Chipman was appointed by Matthew C . Greller, Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) as a member of the IACT’s Legislative Committee. The committee will be chaired by Mayor Jason Thompson of Monticello and co-chaired by Mayor Greg Goodnight of Kokomo.

WESTPORT, Mass. — Doris Downey, 87, of Westport, Mass., formerly of Plymouth, died Dec. 27, 2010 at Westport Nursing Home.
She is survived by daughters, Peggy (James) Metz of Plymouth, and Linda (Dennis) Alitz of Massachusetts.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 and one hour prior to services Friday at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.

CULVER — Nancy E. Simpson, 85, of Culver, passed away Jan. 2, 2011 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
Nancy was born June 9, 1925 in Goshen, one of five children born to Isaac and Lulu (Sparklin) Mummert. After graduating from Goshen High School, she married James Simpson Aug. 15, 1943 in Goshen. Together they raised three children and a foster son.
Nancy really enjoyed gardening and playing bridge with her friends as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
LAKEVILLE — LaVille’s boys basketball team matched NorthWood punch for punch for 29 minutes.
The other three minutes, though, knocked the Lancers back just enough to make the difference.
The Panthers, who led 36-33 at the intermission, scored eight unanswered points in the first three minutes of the second half to open a double-digit lead and turn back LaVille 78-64 at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Tuesday.
BOURBON — Two of Class A No. 3 Triton’s trademarks are a sticky-fingered defense and long range accuracy, and the Trojans put both on display Tuesday.
Triton created seven first quarter turnovers by the visiting Eagles, converting them into 11 points and senior shooter Griffyn Carpenter went 4 for 5 from beyond the arc as the Trojans ran off to a 22-4 lead at the quarter break and never looked back in a dominant 69-39 win over visiting Elkhart Christian at The Trojan Trench Tuesday.
