BOURBON â The Bourbon Public Library began a new program geared to promote reading at the earliest age. â1,000 Books Before Kindergartenâ is for children birth through preschool and anyone can read to the child, any book (even the same book repeatedly) or attend Story Time at the library Thursdays from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
"Dancing" today may evoke images ranging from celebrities on television competitions to little more than flapping arms and legs in place, but time was when dances at Culver were affaris to be remembered, and social events to which young ladies from Indianapolis to South Bend dreamed of being invited.
BOURBON â A Bi-County championship and MVP are nice, but those are just the latest kudos for Tritonâs Griffyn Carpenter.
CULVER â Patrice McBee is all grown up.
Not just in a physical sense â although at 6-foot-3, the Culver senior is certainly that, too â but spectators of Lady Cavaliers basketball have seen McBeeâs game reach new heights recently.
At last weekâs Bi-County Tournament, McBee scored a combined 49 points in three games â including a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in Culverâs championship game against Oregon-Davis â leading the Cavs to their first tourney crown in more than 15 years and garnering MVP honors in the process.
MUNCIE â Ball State junior guard and Plymouth native Randy Davis has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is the first MAC weekly honor for Davis this season and the second of his career.
Davis becomes the second BSU menâs basketball player to earn the leagueâs weekly honor this season, joining classmate Jarrod Jones, who has picked up the award twice.
