BOURBON â The Triton School Board heard the annual report on Triton athletics from Mason McIntyre, director of athletics, during its first meeting of 2011.
McIntyre began his remarks saying that he added a phrase to the Vision and Mission Statement. The addition reads: The Trojan Way: 15 Sports, ONE team.
McIntyre said 15 years ago, Triton had 13 varsity sports and now they have 15. He also explained that 15 years ago, coaches served as trainers with very little supplies. Now, the school has a full-time certified athletic trainer on site with needed supplies.
BREMEN â An amazing seven-year journey culminated in a big payoff last month for Josh Gramm. At the end of a path which zig-zagged across the country, the 2003 Bremen High School graduate was presented his Air Force pilotâs wings in a ceremony at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.
Gramm, an admitted âoverachiever,â didnât get where he is today by accident. As a motivated student at BHS, he finished No. 2 in his class academically while competing in three sports and being active in multiple clubs.
The Plymouth Water Department was busy fixing a service line that had broken on North Michigan Street between Harrison Street and North Street Friday. According to Eric Keilmann of the Plymouth Water Department, a water main on East Garro Street by the Farmersâ Market broke and had to be repaired as well.

MEDARYVILLE â Leroy Garmany, 75, of Medaryville, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at his residence.
He is survived by his brothers, Leonard Garmany of Monticello and Raymond Garmany of St. John.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville.
Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, assisted the family with arrangements.

GRIFFITH â Karen M. Wood, 62, of Griffith, passed away at 8:24 p.m., at the Riley Residence in Munster.
Karen was born June 12, 1948 in Hammond, to Max and Helen (Cromley) Sechner Jr. After her motherâs death, her father was later married to Eleanor Sechner.
She was a 1966 graduate of Griffith High School and attended one year of college. On May 13, 1976 Karen was married to Michael Wood in Kankakee, Ill. He preceded her in death.
BOURBON â Tritonâs 5-3 start to the season was anything but overwhelming, especially considering the level of expectations placed on the Class A third-ranked three-peat sectional champs.
The good news for the Trojans is they seem to be regaining some of their former swagger. And that was bad news Saturday night for Culver.
The past few Bi-County Tournaments have seemed like something of a foregone conclusion, with Oregon-Davis topping the pile four straight years. With four-time tourney MVP Gabbi Minix and the rest of that dynasty long gone, however, this yearâs 34th annual girls tilt could be the end of an era.
Just not if the Bobcats have anything to say about.
PLYMOUTH â Plymouth hung tough with LaPorte for a half, but the Slicers turned it up after the break.
The Pilgrims held a slight, 25-23 advantage over the visitors at halftime, but they were outscored 17-9 in the third quarter on their way to a 54-56 nonconference loss at The Rock Saturday.
LAKEVILLE â Four games ago, LaVille opted to convert senior Kaitlyn Kopetski into a super sub.
Four consecutive wins later, the move looks like a stroke of genius.
In the latest installment Kopetski, a 5-foot-11 forward, hit 11 of 13 from the charity stripe en route to a season-high 21 points, pulled in nine rebounds, and handed out three assists to power the Lancers to a 53-46 Northern State Conference girls basketball win over visiting Knox at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Saturday.
PLYMOUTH â The list of accomplished Plymouth alums is a long one. Don and Evelyn Heim, members of the class of 1958 could likely take accolades for two different careers.
Both had acclaimed careers in the aerospace industry, and even with the high pressure demands of their jobs also raised three daughters. For the era in which they achieved both, they were a non-traditional family indeed.
