WALKERTON — John Glenn’s football team punched the replay button...again.
For the third consecutive week the Falcons’ defense pitched a shutout and the offense rode a stellar effort from junior running back Josh Anderson, this time to a 49-0 Northern State Conference victory over visiting Triton Friday.
Glenn, which blanked Knox and LaVille over the last two weeks, benefited from five Triton turnovers — four fumbles and an interception — converting those miscues into 28 points.
PLYMOUTH — It will likely go down in recent Plymouth Rockies football lore as “the drive.”
It was a thing of beauty to football aficionados — 10 minutes and 16 seconds covering 60 yards for the winning score with just :13 left in the football game. It was 20 plays long. It saw three fourth down conversions and 15 carries by a sophomore — in the game because of injury. It saw another sophomore, also in the game because of injury, make a play that could be the beginning of an illustrious high school career.
BREMEN — The Lions had their chances late against Culver, but in the end the Class A IFCA sixth-ranked Cavaliers escaped with a 23-20 homecoming spoiler at Bremen.
Up 23-7 with 6:59 remaining in the game, Culver nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as Bremen completed a 70-yard touchdown drive in just nine plays and two minutes.
Quarterback Nate Leeper capped off the scoring drive with an 11-yard pass to Ben Hueni, and the ensuing kick from Lucas Schlarb cut the Cavs’ lead to 23-14 with 4:53 on the clock.
