PLYMOUTH — While major damage seemed to be averted Tuesday, heavy winds damaged several trees and power lines in the Marshall County area.
The rest of the state wasn’t so lucky.
According to the Associated Press, a storm system rushing across the northern Midwest spawned several funnel clouds, with touchdowns near Kokomo and in Wabash.
One house is heavily damaged and six other structures have roof damage after a tornado hit east of downtown Kokomo on Tuesday.

LAKEVILLE — Clarice Opal Balmer, 82, residing in Lakeville, passed away at 3:37 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
She was born March 24, 1928 in Lakeville, to Lawrence P. and Mary Catherine (Loucks) Rouch. June 30, 1947 in Lakeville, she married Perry W. Balmer, who preceded her in death July 26, 1991.

GROVERTOWN — E. Joan Brown, 81, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 at her residence.Â
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Brown of Chesterton and Linda Brown of Plymouth; sons: John Brown of Plymouth, David Brown of Pittsboro, Ind. and Aaron Brown of Grovertown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Hobbs of Salem, Ind. and Linda Johns of Indianapolis.Â
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. ET Thursday, Oct. 28 at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
